BEWARE!!!!!I have been with AHS for years and have had a few minor claims with ice makers. 3 days ago my AC went out so we made a claim. I was diligent in going through my profile on AHS to make sure all my contact information was current and my wife’s phone number was deleted from the account as she does not answer numbers she does not know. After looking at my profile no changes were necessary as all my contact information was there and none of my wife’s. About an hour after my claim was submitted my wife informed me that she had a voicemail from A-US AC. I called them back within seconds and was placed in the cue on hold from 4:40 until it dropped me in the voice mail system at 5:00pm. I left a voice mail explaining we had no AC and it was dangerously hot, could someone please call me ASAP.

After no return call the following day I called again at 10am and again was placed on hold until again it went to voice mail. This time I went on line and booked an appointment, unfortunately by now the next available appointment was 3 days out. I call AHS and asked if my profile had only my contact information why and how is the vendor calling my wife? Her response was "when you sighed up that’s what you gave us”. I signed up years ago and had updated my profile to reflect the new information but AHS doesn’t pay attention to that they just use the old information you gave them the year you sighed up in essence when you update your profile its busy work you are doing just for your benefit and no one looks at it. This caused at least 1 day of delay! At 4:25pm I received a call from A-US AC and the gentleman said "I’m returning a call from Joe Mauro”.

He was not concerned at the least about the amount of time it took to contact me nor did he care about our family suffering in 100 degree heat while it took 2 days to call us back. This last question before he hung up on me was "did you end up getting an appointment?” I replied "yes… but” by that time he uttered "ok” and hung up. This morning the tech came and diagnosed my AC issue and said it was a leaking coil that was letting the Freon escape. He now has to submit the work to AHS for approval and most likely the very expensive AHS will only pay a fraction! The tech said they use to pay for Freon but recently stopped. I have now realized what a worthless policy AHS has provided me with. I could have saved all the monthly payments over the years and had a tech out within hours and the unit fixed immediately.

When this process has come to an end I will spend a great deal of time either praising AHS for doing the right thing or sharing my nightmare that my family of 4 has no AC with temperatures reaching over 100 and I could have no AC for a total of 7 days! UPDATE!! I just received a call from AHS and the coil for my AC is leaking. The ONLY thing they are covering is the coil, labor, the coil removal and $10 a bottle of the Freon. So years of paying AHS protection from such disasters such as this will cost ME $2,200!!!! They have figured out how to pay for nothing of relevance while promoting this feel good, be covered crappy insurance policy. Put your money in a jar use it and pay cash when something breaks and you will get it done faster and at a great discount. They have ripped me off and caused my family 5 days of misery with rude vendors and worthless protection.

I have not read 1 positive review yet on AHS that should tell you everything you need to know! I am not going quietly I will reach out to all the local news channels that have a RIP OFF segment as well as social media, they need to be kicked out of Texas! $1800 for a local AC company to do the work. I called AHS to cancel my crap policy and it took 3 numbers to reach the proper line. When I called the 1st time they picked up 2nd ring, to cancel I have been on hold for 15;45sec so far! Just answered my call and canceled my policy, I think. No e mail conformation as of 24 hours and my profile is still live as is my credit card. I am sure they are going to screw me out of another month’s payment. I have received interest in my story from channel 5 news and will now be sending my story to the Texas dept of insurance. Reading the fine print like when you did when purchasing your homeowners insurance? Of course you didn’t!

No one does, they are a public trust like a bank or insurance carrier and Texas is protected by the Texas Department of Insurance. When something breaks you are made whole less your deductable. Thuis is an insurance policy and if they say its covered you shouldn’t have to read 700 pages of legal crap it should just be fixed like it was. Listen I’m not asking you to take my word at all. Go look at Google reviews and then go to the 4 or 5 face book pages about class action lawsuits, We Hate AHS, AHS is a rip off, and many others. We had an ice maker replaced for the $75 deductable and that was great, but when it come to big ticket items good luck. They figured out what breaks and how not to pay for anything of large value. I’m not having a bad day at all and we are able to pay cash for this to be fixed, but many others can’t and I’m warning them!
