Drive Time sold me a 1997 Camero RS LEMON. I selected this car because it had everything I was looking for in a car like; CD player, air conditioning, leather seats, power windows & locks, a remote control to unlock the doors and trunk, and T-top roofs.

Well come to find out this car DID NOT have half the list above. When I test drove the car it was raining in Georgia and also nobody had a CD to listen to the CD player so I took the salesmans word that the CD player worked.

When I got home I put a CD in the deck and all it read was "CD ERROR". I called Drive Time the next day to tell them the CD player didn't work and they told me they can't do anything because it's not covered under warrenty and the CD player was an important reason why I choose this car.

Next the windows wouldn't roll up and it was pouring down rain in Georgia. Then the door locks go out. Then the remote for the locks went out. Then the T top was broken and the T top flew off the car and broke the glass. The emergency break would get so HOT that it burned my five year old sons leg, leaving him in tears. The gear changer would also get extermely hot too.

It started to get hot in Georgia so now it's time to turn on the air conditioning. Guess what there was NO AC IN THE CAR WHEN THEY SOLD IT TO ME and after they "said" they fixed the AC that's when the following major problems started happening. The check engine light stayed on. There was smoke and a poisonous smell coming out of the vents. There was no power when I drove the car. The left side head light went out. The engine belt came off the car while I was driving it and the steering wheel locked up on the road and I almost died. The car would overheat. The radiator was rusted and it leaked bad.

The final event was when I got the car out of the shop the fifth time getting the AC fixed and paying my bi-weekly payment, two days later the batttery and alternater went out. That's when the mechanic who worked for Drive Time told me this car was a LEMON and I just need to leave it on the lot for a self repo.

All the six times my car went into the shop to get fixed they would keep the car for a week or more, leaving me with no car. I called Drive Time to see if I could get a rental and they said no. All they were worried about was when was I going to make my next payment.

The camero is still in the shop and I will do all I have to do to make this situation on my behalf a Happy one!

Steve of FL,

I thank you for your advice and I'm now realizing that. You're absolutely right. After I get out of this sitution and decide on buying another vehicle, I'll take yours and everyone elses advice. Tameko of GA should take the same advice.

Latesha,

I am in no way affiliated with Drive Time, nor do I suport their business practices...HOWEVER...

If you are not knowledgeable about cars, you really should take someone with you who is, or during your test drive, swing into a shop who does FREE safety inspections! If they object, that means they have something to hide.

Spend the $35 to get a CARFAX report prior to purchase. This will tell if it was ever wrecked, flood damaged, etc..Or in commercial use like a taxicab, etc.. It is a small price to pay if you really want the car.

Any REPUTABLE dealer will volunteer a CARFAX report, and usually free of charge if you buy the car.

NEVER make a deal on the first visit. Always wait at least a full day to really think about it and look at other options.

YOU chose to do business with them. Nobody forced you to buy a car from them. AND there is a reason why you have been forced to deal with these types of businesses. We all make choices, and we all pay the consequences.

Do yourself a favor. Save up like $1000 and buy a used car out of the newspaper from a private seller. Establish some good credit for 1-2 years and go get real financing from a real bank on a GOOD car.

File complaints with the Consumer protection division of the AG's office and the licensing division against the dealer's license.

You also have recourse in small claims if they did not honor a written warranty.

Also if they forced a warranty on you as a condition of "financing" they violated both federal and state laws.

DRIVE TIME SHOULD BE KNOW AS LEMON TIME...or LEMON DEALERS

AUTHOR: Latesha - (U.S.A.)

I, too brought a lemon...I mean a car from Lemon Time and I have problem with my lemon also. They give you a car that's 4 to 9 years old car.
Then, Drive "Lemon" Time charges you the price of the car, 74% apr, the cost of coming there to fill out an application, for using their pen to fill the application out, for using their bathroom, on their floor, for test driving the lemons, for talking to them, and intrest.

Your contract state 29.9 % apr. The truth it's 75% APR. I think these people are on crack and they all need to be tested for drug use.

When you pay the bill for the 2 weeks, I think they're pocketing that money for themselves.

If you a day late, they'll come repo your lemon. They sell you a lemon with an engine light problem. The d**n engine light comes on every day.

Lemon Time should be banned from the Stated. They are the criminals. All the people that work there should be locked up for falsifying document and obstruction of justice.

If Lemon Time want us to pay off the lemon, then give us a car that last so we can go to work to pay yo crazy a*s.
