Me and my best friend went to Eastern Motors in Laurel, MD to try and find a car for her. She did not have bad credit, but she had just started establishing her credit, and was therfore turned down by other dealers, unles she had a very large down payment. When we entered, the salesman were very nice. He ran her credit, and immediately asked her for a co-signer. I wanted to know why did she need a co-signer? This was a 2nd chance dealer, and if she had a co-signer she would have went to a regular dealer.
Anyway, she desperately needed a car, and asked me. I told the guy that I couldn't do it, because I had filed bankruptcy. He tells me,"Oh that is fine. The bank doesn't care about that, they just want to see another persons' name attached to the deal". That is a complete CROCK! I used to work for a dealership. I immediately wanted to leave but she begged me to try because of her situation. So they guy ran the credit. We sat, and sat, and sat! I kept asking the salesman what was taking so long, and he said,"Oh we have 30+ banks, and it takes a while to transmit to each one!" Since when does a 2nd chance dealer have 30+ banks!
I had become very pissed off and I told the guy we were leaving, and all of a sudden they had a decision! The guy walks into the office, and comes out with a smile and says, "come on let's go outside". When me and my friend walked outside he pulled up in a very unattractive Mercury Sable. My friend said "who is this for?" and he replied that he wanted her to test drive it because this was the car she had been approved for. I could have killed him right there in that parking lot! My friend is very sensitive and she just began to cry becuase she knew then that they were messing around with her. I told him to take that piece of s*** back where he got it from, and to kiss my a**! He said "what do you have to do with it, the car is for her". I said, "well I am a co-signer so I have a lot to do with it"! I walked into the Sales Manager's office and they told me to leave because I could not see what was on the screens! It was my information! I started to cuss and yell, and make threats, and they told me if I did not get out of the store right now, they would have me arrested!
They are THE WORST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! When I called them on the phone to ask why a sable, they said there cars aren't sold by a sticker price, they are sold according to market value, and risks of loss, ect. So with our credit, that was the highest level car we qualified for! I cussed that guy out to, and hung up! Please DON'T EVER EVER EVER GO THERE FOR ANYTHING!!

first of all, there are other customer's information stored in the manager's offices at the store. this particular customer was trying to open folders with other customer's personal information in it.
there a FEDERAL LAWS against her being in an office where personal information about other people is kept. the person applying for a car loan said all she wanted was a 4 door automatic car. she wanted a low payment and a few options. the car shown is a 4 door automatic with leather, sunroof, mach surround stereo, ect; 300 per month for a 2 year old car with every option is, from what the buyer thought, a pretty good deal. when the co-signer started screaming and cussing at other customers and employees, we asked her to leave.
she wanted to take all of the folders with other people's information with her. we then informed her that it was a federal offense to view that information and told her to leave or we would call the police. my belief is that the co-signer in this case was trying to get someone's information in order to misuse it and commit fraud.

WOW!!! That is really all I can say - it's like I was there. I for one, have had one too many situations like that in my time. It is THE WORST thing to deal w/ scam artists & terrible salesmen. Especially, as you get older, obviously you have more experience so situations like that become much more apparent & leave you w/ zero tolerance. When you see it happening, it's like your reliving all those other times when people tried to rip you off.
Thank god that you did what you did & left that place. I can not believe that the guy drove up in a Mercury Sable - what an A**HOLE!!!
Thanks for posting your terrible experience - it has prevented my very own & I thank you for that.
