J. C. Penney Diamond scam targets customers. J.C. Penney is selling diamonds that are inhanced to improve appearance and apparent value. I bought a three stone, two TCW ring from them Sedalia, Missouri

     "What you see is what you get" The old phrase no longer holds true for purchasing diamonds at J. C. Penney's.  They have found a new way to sell their diamonds that will catch the unwarry customer right in the pocket book.

    I discovered this rip-off completly by accident and it falls into a catagory of such low standing that I'm reminded of some greasy haired guy standing in an alley selling fake Rolex watches.

     The ring I bought looked great and I was quite pleased with it.  But, one day I was looking at it in sunlight and noticed that a single flash of light from one of the diamonds was a little dull.  Looking closer, I discovered that the diamond seemed so have a smudge on it.  I rubbed the ring on my blue jeans to clean it and removed what ever the substance was.  The substance was removed and underneath was a very large black spot. 

    I attempted to return the ring.  Nope, more than 60 days.  But, while there the employees decided to "clean" my ring.  Right there in front of me another large black spot came into view on another diamond.  The three employees standing there would not say a word about this event other to say that the faults were always there.

    These three employees were practiced, rehersed and not a bit surprised about the events at their counter.  They also new that the substance used to hide these faults in their diamonds does not exist. 

    Yes, I've looked.  Experts in the diamond field say there is no known substance that will do what I saw.  But I saw it, as well as friends of mine.
