Amazon offered a Mont Blanc watch from Jomashop for $2450. I used American Express points to purchase it. The notice I received after purchasing the watch was that the item will be shipped between June 3rd - 9th. I thought that was odd since the purchase was on May 17th, but I assumed maybe it had to do with the fact that I used points for the purchase and that maybe it takes a couple weeks for the points to be funded to the store. I didnt worry about the three week shipping timeframe and just forgot about it until the days when it was supposed to be shipped.

When the 9th came and went with still no change in the status, I contacted Jomashop, only to find out that they "did not have the watch in stock and Amazon automatically cancels orders that take this long". At that point I was told, "no problem, just give me your credit card and I will place the order now," but obviously my problem is that I paid with reward points and that is not something they could do directly. The only option then would be to re-order it through Amazon using the points that were refunded to me. The problem with that scenario is that they no longer sold the watch for $2450. It is now listed at a higher price which fluctuates between $300 more and $1000 more. I have not seen the price back down to what I paid originally.

I have three main problems with Jomashop. 1) They sold a watch they did not have in stock. 2) They did not bother telling me up front so that it could be rectified; I just waited patiently while they knew the order would automatically be cancelled weeks later. 3) They had no way to rectify the situation.

I suspect that this practice is standard operating proceedure with this company. And they ripped me off and wasted my time.
