They almost got me too. My wife and I attended a Sportmans Classic in Columbia about six years ago. There was a display set up where you could register to win a customized golf cart. I filled out a card and entered. A few months later I received a phone call stating we had '"won" a prize and we could pick it up in Columbia, which is 55-60 miles from us. They referred to the Sportsmans' Classic we had attended. We were not the winners of the golf cart but of another prize.
I was informed that it would only take a few minutes and we would be done. I asked the gentleman that I was talking to if I was going to have to pay or be solicited for anything and his reply was no. I told him that I was off work that day but my wife wasn't and it would be close to an hour and a half before we could get there. I asked again about the soliciting because my wife would lose the remainder of the day from work to go and we did not want to waste our time on nonsense. Same reply.
We arrive at their store in the mall and was greeted by the gentleman I spoke to. I told him we were there to pick up our "gift" and he said ok give him a minute. He walked off and a girl came up and started a sales pitch about my golf game, score, etc. I told her that I play golf maybe three times in two months, am not good, and do it just to pass the day or get together with friends. After more talk she says the #1 reason golfers have problems is improper fitted clubs. I got mine from Neveda Bob's or some store along that line.
Anyway, not interested, give me the gift and lets go. Then she wants me to grip the club, notice how comfortable it is and how longer it is. Feels the same as mine, where's the gift? The clubs are ONLY $3000. No thanks. I guess she gets the point and we go see the man that will give us our gift. We get into the room and he starts a sales pitch about big discounts at all these golf resorts and courses for only $200 a month. This would save us $50 to $100 dollars or more at these places. So you want me to pay 200 a month regardless if I play one game just to save that little?
This price would include the golf clubs that would help me so. Finally just being so pissed off at his total waste of time and trip I told him I could play 8 rounds of golf at the local country club for 200, my wife does not play golf so it wouldn't be quality time we could spend together, and my offbrand clubs work fine. I told him I wasn't even concerned with the gift, he could keep it and we were leaving. He coped the attitude, signed a piece of paper, slid it over to the girl in there with us, threw his pen down and said have a good day. The gift? A free round of golf at the local cornfield for a course country club. Please do not give these people the time of day.

It was just a big inconvenice. I understand everyone has to make a paycheck and all they were doing was making theirs, but my wife took off work, drove the distance, and got the run around. Someone did drop the ball and all I would have asked was to be truthful when I inquired about the solicitation. Then it would have been a yes/no situation as to going. I guess if everyone was honest though, there would be no need for this site.

I understand your complaint as I have been put in your situation before. Your real problem should be with the marketing company that contacted you. They are firmly required to inform all calls that the gifts can only be attained after a tour of the facility is taken. That is what the employees at Kis expect all guests to know before they get to the facility. That is probably why different people kept coming over to you.
With no interest in that level of golf, the marketing company shouldn't have even scheduled you to go there in the first place. but they get paid based on how many people show up and unfortunately, that's what happens sometimes. You will still be entered into the golf cart drawing. They were only doing their jobs.
