Lendingtree.com rip-off! Internet

I had a $100 coupon for choosing a lender through LendingTree.com. The coupon stated that "Receive $100 rebate when you get a mortgage or refinance, or $50 rebate for a home equity loan through LendingTree". Then it went on to say that "When your transaction is complete, send us a copy of your HUD-1 (you will receive this at closing), along with this coupon, and we will send your rebate." It also provided the mailing address. Nowhere in the coupon does it say that I have to do go though the entertainment book link to be eligible for this. At the most, it asks you to go to the entertainment book website for 'details'.

Hence, I went to the lending tree web-site and followed the procedure to choose a lender. After my loan transaction was complete, I sent all the documents to lending tree, and they came up with the answer that I had to go through my loan application only through that particular link to be applicable. This is completely misleading, as nowhere was it mentioned that I have to use that link to be eligible. Hiding these catches' in a third place is extremely deceptive in my point of view. I just ended up wasting my time and money due to this gimmick.

Finally when I contacted the Customer Service Reps, they kept repeating the same thing. One extremely rude rep asked me to read the complete coupon and then telling me that it's your error, because you skipped the main part why didn't you seek more details from the entertainment book website
