I have been a Old Republic client for 4 years and have used their services several times without incidence. My most recent experience was uncharacteristic and unacceptable for the company I am used to dealing with.

I filed a request for service on my garage door opener on July 28th. From the beginning, communication between Old Republic, the contractor, and me was sub par.

The OR rep who called me gave only a first name, no extension or callback number, and no work order number. The contractor assigned to my repair was even more of a joke.  After a day without hearing anything from them, I decided to be proactive and call myself. I called them 5 times during regular business hours as specified on their voicemail, none of the calls were answered, and I left several messages. By the way, the outgoing message stated that this was an air conditioning and heating company, so why ORHP felt they were qualified to evaluate garage door mechanics is still lost on me. When they finally returned my calls, the repair could not be scheduled for 4 days, an inconvenience I have never had with ORHP contractors before.

When the contractor came to the house, he looked at the garage door opener, decided it was improperly installed, and left. I am a landlord, and was not present for this, but was informed by my tenants.  No one from the contractor or ORHP contacted me about this for several days after the visit.  I attempted to contact both the contractor and OHRP to follow-up on August 3rd. Multiple calls to the contractor were again unanswered during business hours, and messages unreturned.  I was told by the ORHP rep that the contractor had not given them the report, and that they would get it and get in touch with me.  I did not hear back from ORHP until today, August 16th.  The report declared that the garage door opener was improperly installed, and therefore not covered by ORHP.

I tried to find more information on the contractor, and internet, yellow pages, and reverse phone number look up did not turn up any business.  Besides the poor communication and lack of consideration for my situation and repairs, I am appalled by the fact that ORHP sent out this sham of a contractor whose credibility cannot be publicly verified, and is refusing to uphold their promise of service because of his report.
