I was transferred a 100.00 to a PayPal account which was set up in 2011. I used it a few months ago to send a 40.00 money transfer. Just recently, I had requested a debit card for the account. So when I received the $100 transfer, I transferred twenty dollars to my bank card which was already linked. It have me two options to either pay 25 cents to receive the transfer instantly, or to select the "free" option for next day. I selected the "25 cents" option for a balance of 19.75 to be sent. Unbeknownst to me that not only was bank card transfer "under review, but so was the entire $100 transfer itself.

I had no access to any of the money. My debit card did not work either, and I was charged .50 for the attempt to withdraw the $80 from the PayPal debit card. After calling and speaking to several people and three supervisor, the last one I spoke with named "Aaron" said he couldn't help me, and the best I could do was refund it to the originator, and use Moneygram. Actually, the sender and I debated which source to use. We chose to use PayPal because we both had it and the sender could save $20 (it costs 12.99 to send $100). Looks as if the joke is on me. Aaron said I would not have access to any money until 2PM Pacific Time. That's 5:00PM on the East Coast. He said there was no one else to speak to, everybody else was gone, and he could not help me. As of this moment, I still have not had access to my money.

There is no disclaimer indicating this is their business practice. If there was, I would not have used them. We could have used Money gram or Western Union, and I would not be submitting this report. However, PayPal decided this is Best Practices to hold money. My view is someone may be in a tight spot, and depending on an immediate financial fix. I would suggest trying a paid service for a quick resolution. PayPal has me a terrific bind. So, congratulations PayPal. I join the others who trusted your business service. But I choose no longer to accept your mediocrity. You're famous now.
