Why is this company still in business? I bought my first phone in Aug of 2011. It didn't work, and I took it back to Walmart and upgraded to the most expensive phone $200.00 dollars. It has never worked right, it constantly locks up for hours, no matter how many times I take the battery out and put it back in, which is what their tech people told me to do. I signed up for auto refill which they messed up numerous times and it would take hours to straighten out.
I have an invalid mother and really need service. I called today after my phone was locked up for 24 hours. They refuse to replace or compensate me in any way even though it shows I have called many times to complain. A supervisor named Marion kept telling me it is policy and refused to submit my complaint or let me talk to anyone else. Finally I got the name Mike Marrow in Miami. Don't know yet if it is legit.
My boyfriend got a Straight Talk phone 3 months ago, last week it died, after just refilling the minutes. No buttons would work, it was charged but wouldn't come on. Suddenly today it actually comes on and says the battery temperature is either too high or too low. I have been trying to reach tech support for days and get the message that their phones are busy and they are hanging up on me, naturally this is after spending 5 minutes navigating their prompts. Finally this morning I get through, I'm told the phone is defective and they will send me a new one. Great right? Not.
They are supposed to send me an email, then I have to reply and activate some code which then they are supposed to send an email with a label, that I will then print off with instructions for mailing the defective phone back to them. After they get the defective phone back, they will process the order for the replacement phone. I was advised to be prompt about getting it in the mail because the label expires quickly. So, I have thirty days already paid for and I will have no phone for at least another 7 - 10 days. I told them my mother is very ill and I absolutely need service. I asked this Marion if she thought that was good customer service. She told me it was policy.
What can we do to stop this company? I wish I had read these reports before I spent so much money. The word needs to be spread so other innocent consumers don't get sucked in by their false advertising.
