After I entered the information on my vehicle and the part required on a clearing house on the net, I was contacted via email by 5 different companies, incuding Thoroughbred. Since the prices were very close, I chose Thoroughbred (should have checked out this site first!) due to its proximity to Ohio.

On July 7 I telephoned Thoroughbred, and after referencing the email I had received they were able to pull up the information. They gave me the price once again and assured me that all parts were inspected prior to shipment. When asked about a shipping date, I was advised it would be within 2-3 days since the warehouse was "right up the street." I gave them my VISA information (big mistake) and the charge went through several days later. I had been told I would receive a confrmation email.

After 1 week I still had not received any confirmation. Between July 14 and 16 I sent two emails requesting confirmation and shipping information. No response.

On July 21 I called and after giving my order no. I was put on hold for 20 minutes - finally I was told that they would have to call me back. Fifteen minutes later they called and said that I would have my part on July 22, to which I replied if I did not have it by the 22nd the order was to be cancelled. They indicated it went out United Parcel Service with scheduled deivery on the 22nd. On the 22nd I received via US Postal Service Priority Mail a box with a return address of only a street and city. No packing slip was enclosed.

I called and said I had received it but was concerned and asked how I could be certain this was the part I ordered since there was no packing slip. . . they replied that they had sent me what I had ordered. I had ordered it with a required addition which was not with the item as far as I could determine. They transferred me to someone that apparently was a mechanic and I posed the questions to him and received unsatisfactory answers.

I decided to take the item in the box to a local reputable repair shop and make inquiry on installation and have them determine if this item was the right item. Three different repair shops initially quoted me a price to install, BUT upon looking at the item, all three said it was not a viable piece and that it would be a waste of my money to have it installed as it would not work.

I have now sent 3 emails to Thoroughbred requesting the name of the Ohio concern that sent it to me so that I could indeed return it, and once Thoroughbred received confirmation of its receipt, I fully expected an immediate refund. No response as of this writing. I plan to pursue this as best I can via BBB, Attorney General's offices in NY and OH, and by whatever other means I find available.

We are all quick to file a negative report when things are not going as we expected but are slow to report when things go well or don't report it at all. Thank you "Joe" in Carmel for adding your experience withus. What you said was correct. We do not have the parts here and rely on others yards to do their part but are the only one left holding the bag and the bad rip off reports. We do our best to help customers when they call and can only sent what they order as we do not have their cars here and are not diagnosing them.
