We booked a hotel in Myrtle Beach, SC for one week in May 2014. The room was booked through travelocity over the phone, and the customer service agent said it included a suite style hotel room with a full kitchen. After arriving, hotel had no record of us booking there, but had a name very similar, which we came to find out travelocity heard the spelling of our name wrong over the phone. We called travelocity to straighten out the problem, which took over an hour. This took so long because they also spelled our email wrong, so we had no confirmation of our booking with the ID#. This means they could not look up our trip confirmation by our name or email because of their errant spelling, and they couldn't find it by ID# because the ID# is sent in the email.
After entering the room, we found that it was not a suite but a regular room with two queen beds and a small mini fridge. Having 7 people in our party including 2 two-year-olds, we were forced to leave the hotel and book another on our own in Myrtle Beach for the week.
We called customer service several times to get the hotel cost refunded, and were on the phone for several hours. They said several times they had no records of our booking, even though it appeared on the credit card. After speaking to several representatives a few said they found our trip, but phone call went dead as they 'were giving us the refund'.
We tried a different route to get rid of the charge by reporting a fradulant charge to the credit card company on the credit card used to book the room, but they contaced travelocity who verified the booking. It was amazing to me that they could tell the credit card company that we booked there but basically had no record of it when talking to us directly. We have been stuck paying for this unused room up to this point. We have tried calling customer service over 50 times, to no avail. We have tried contacting corporate, but it is impossible as far as I can see. It has been 4 months now, and no refund has been given. Is there any hope? This is theft and travelocity should pay the consequences.
