I purchased a everstart battery from walmart. The battery failed after 6 months- I took the battery back to find out that walmart batteries only have a 1 month exchage warranty and after 180 days no proration availible.

I have beeb in the automotive buss. since 1999. I currenty work as a service director for a GM dealer. I have never seen a battery with lessthan a 12 mo. free exchage warraty-most with 18 mo free exchange after that then the battery get prorated. walmart is a huge retail store if evrstart will not stand behind the battery then i feel walmart should.

Walmart everstart battery 30day warranty

AUTHOR: Slider - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 26, 2009

What kind of vehicle was this battery for? Wal-marts car and truck batteries have a free replacement period of 1-3 years depending on the battery and a pro-rated warranty of 3-9 years. Motorcycle, lawnmower and marine batteries have a significantly shorter warranty because they are used only part of the year. The warranties are prominently displayed on the signage and on the batteries/packaging. I don't see how anybody is getting ripped off here.

I too bought batteries from Walmart (Sam's club) and they didn't last a year. Never again.

You Get What You Pay For

Something doesn't wash here. In the past 24 years of having owned vehicles, I have purchased my fair share of batteries. Most of them have been from either Kragen/Schucks/Checker, or from Pep Boys. In each of these cases, the batteries all came with both DX (direct exchange) and pro-rate warranty, that's why there's that little sticker with the punch-out dots on the battery. If the battery is rated as a "96-month battery", that means that it should last that long. If not, then after the 3 month (or whatever) DX period, then the remainder is pro-rated out based on 96 months. (8 years! PBY actually HAS batteries rated for that duration, and HAS and WILL honor that warranty!)

The battery that I am currently running in my Chevy Astro is an Exide from Kragen's, with a long-duration prorate. I made darned sure that they marked the battery with the date I bought it, so no worries. Kept the receipt also. (KEY)
