Walmart Automotive Dept. totalled my car with a simple oil change! Pontiac Illinois

I've posted this advice IDK how many times. The reason people have so much trouble getting their "blown-up engines" replaced by walmart.
 
Chain of Custody

Once your vehicle leaves their property, they no long have custody of it (obviously). Where this get's you into trouble in court, is that your vehicle left their property with no problems and no complaints from you. They can then contend that you may have drained the oil yourself to get money, hit a pot hole creating a leak, etc etc etc......  This then shifts the burden of proof totally on you. You (the lone consumer) is now up against walmart with billions of dollars.

It's easy enough to remedy, AND can prevent you from losing your engine in the first place.

When the shop is done with your car, and BEFORE your take custody of it(don't even let them give you your keys, make them keep possesion of them, and DEFINATLY don't pay the bill yet), ask the service manager to show you (on the dipstick of your engine) that the engine has been fileld to the appropriate oil level.  It's that easy, and most service managers are happy to, because it gives them the chance of catching a screw up before it ends up in court, or worse: here.

Did the claims guy tell you to get a breakdown of your engine? The reason why I am asking you is because they told me to do the same. I called a mechanic to ask them if that's needed and they said that the only reason why Walmart wants you to do that is because they can take the blame from them. They did the same to my car, but they put 1 quart less of oil in my car when my car requires 4 quarts and my engine did the same as yours. Get a letter from your lawyer if you have one, file with the BBB, and also file with your attorney general's office.
