AHS claims to take hassle out of home repair. I reported a problem and it took me several weeks to get a plumber to schedule; and I'm located in a fairly large metropolitan area; ample resources would reasonably be expected from such a large populace. I waited all day on two separate days and no service arrived. The reason for their not showing, I was told, is that I lived too far from the service area the contracted plumber serviced. I displayed anger and the assigned plumbing company agreed to meet me on a Saturday. The technician arrived the following Saturday but was very distraught and screaming at me claiming the distance he had to travel to service my home was ridiculous. I think the business was located about 20 minutes south of my location. What an inconvenience I put him through. The technician looked at the broken fixture and promptly said that he had to order a rare internal part but did not know if he would be able to return to install the part because I lived so far from his service area. Imagine that; he was already fretting another inconvenience. Anyway, soon after he left under the auspice of ordering a part and possible return to install, an AHS representative called to inform me that the fixture would not be covered due to the plumber's stated assessment that the fixture was broken due to abuse. It is clear that the fixture malfunctioned due to normal wear and tear. Even a child could assess this fact. It was an internal part away from access to receive deliberate harm. I exhibited extreme anger to the AHS rep who quickly advised that she did not appreciate my anger and suggested that if I did not like their decision they would gladly cancel my policy. I had just paid $477.00 for one year but I accepted her offer and demanded that I get a full refund. Well they refused any refund at first but after a bit of bickering back and forth I was told I would be sent an adjusted refund (3 months of a 12 month policy). However, the return was on 80.00 of the $477.00 paid. They took almost the entire annual payment for a few months and no service consideration. They stated I had administrative and cancellation fees and $80.00 is what remained. What a rip-off. I reported them to the Insurance Commission and the financial institution where I used credit card to purchase the service. Im trying to rescind the charge from my credit card since the original charge date is less than 90 days from POP. The thing is AHS made documented claim on their website that they take the hassle out of home repair and guarantee their work or money back. Don't believe them! They contract with less than reputable service technicians who are woefully inept; and they grossly misrepresent their product; and my experience, they are big cry babies. Even if service is granted the service the only guarantee one can expect is to have guaranteed flawed repair. I know now they AHS never intended to provide any of the service they promise. They only want to take the money and run. There is no reason why my covered item was denied. Just look at all the other ServiceMaster owned companies complaints on this and other websites. This is all a clear warning consumers. AHS and affiliates have a racket going on; all to defraud the public. There was no reason for AHS to deny a valid service item and not to issue full refund since they initiated the cancellation and never, ever intended to honor the contract I went into in good faith. I was ripped off. Please don't believe AHSs claim. They will steal from anyone. But are there any reputable, trustworthy home warranty services out there? Its better to save the annual premium and contact a highly regarded reliable repair when you need home service. It is the least expensive and most hassle-free way to home repair.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
why I left ahs
AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

terry, what you descibe sounds exactly the same scam I have heard for years, I was a vendor for AHS for over 7 years, as well as a few other "alleged" home warranty compaies. None of which are worth a piece of used toilet tissue. From what you write, it sounds like AHS sent out one of the russian mafia to your home. these incompetent companies burst upon the scene here in SD County about 5- 6 years ago, and it is truly amazing how they always feel as though they are the ones being misconvienced ( sp ?? ) one of the scams is demanding an extra $ 20 to $ 25 for gas because they have to come back, claiming that as they are the "assigned" service vendor, that they are the only ones authorized to perform the "non code" issues,
a couple of years ago, AHS sent out 5 vendors to the same house, each adding freon, until finally the 5th guy condemned the compressor, I was the 6th I found a restriction in the metering device and recovered over 28 pounds of freon from a system designed to hold maybe 8 to 9 pounds maximum. over time AHS started using these russians more & more as they were saving ahs money by getting denials, finally I had said enough when I was sent out as a second opinion when a client was told they need 2 new furnaces at a cost of over $ 10,000.
I found one furnace unplugged with the gas off, & the other had the blower door off, which disconected the internal power switch. yet AHS would not accept my report as because I was not telling them what they wanted to hear, as I was a " lower rated" vendor, due to costing the homewarranty company too much money ( for being HONEST?!?!?!?!? ) . and the stories go on. Since leaving that segment of the business, my stress is down & income is up, I have quite a few former clients all former home warranty policy holders who will only call my firm for service. any way business is here in o'side, and if AHS reads this they will figure out who I am, but what I wrote is 100% true. I would love it if all these "home warranty companies went out of business, it would allow credibility be returned to all us "honest " contractors"
