I started a new security service account with ADT in September of 2010. For whatever reason, they never received my information, and the account was considered inactive. I called and tried to restart the account and I was told by Nathaniel Lott, of the local office here, that they would have to start a brand new account. He came to my house and we started a new one.

I gave him my card number to pay the initial 99.00 fee, and then the automatic payments would be started. Instead, I got a bill for 150.00 and when I called, I was told that it was never paid for the account, and the account was not active. After some confusion, it was brought to light that they didn't cancel the first account, they just didn't activate it. Instead of canceling out that information, they somehow looped two different accounts into one, and then tried to over charge me the 99.00 that I had already paid. The first person I talked to tried to fix the issue, by putting me on debit pay, and then closing the first account. Apparently, it never went through, and I am still being billed for 150 dollars from the first, inactive account. I've since paid almost 200.00 in monthly bills.

I called and canceled my account, which they said needed 30 days to process, and I would be billed one more time. I agreed and they canceled. Last week, I got a call for charges totaling 22.00 saying that it would be the last thing I'd pay and my account would be terminated. I agreed to pay it and it was complete.

Today, I got a paper bill, STILL SAYING I OWE 150 DOLLARS and that my next billing would be next month. I am FURIOUS that I cannot seem to find anyone to help me with this issue, and that they are less than helpful with my billing questions. I am seriously considering not only a BBB report, but also taking them to small claims court, since they were the ones who messed it up in the first place. I don't know how much it would help, however.

I would NOT recommend anyone use their service. It's a complete rip off and you'll end up wasting your money.
