I was working with the credit cards I have to pay them off more quickly. I contacted Chase to increase my monthly automatic payment, which had been set to minimum. Chase will not allow you to pay more than minimum each month if you use autopay. (Of course, you can pay off the entire amount, which is the only option besides minimum.)
In addition, if I make an additional payment each month (online, in a bank, or on the phone) this payment goes toward the next minimum autopayment not toward the balance of the card.
Of the five credit card companies I am working with, Chase is the only one that does not allow payments each month to be more than the minimum.
Because of this policy, I am paying Chase for 28 years rather than three years, costing me over $7,000 in extra interest charges!

To Robert..the "official" ripoff report victim kicker...

The OP did not mention anything about overdraft fees...but the OP CERTAINLY did mention a less then desirable experience with Chase bank. I was simply using as an example my personal experience on how to use ones BRAIN...in order to have the bank work for you...not you work for them. Sorry if my reply offended you in any way or if I left good advice for a Chase bank customer that can actually help.

Ripoff?

Really where is the Ripoff? Are you really saying that your time is so precious that you don't even have a couple minutes a month to log-in and set up a payment manually. Chase lets you set up a payment for a specific amount on a specific day so you don't have to worry about "forgetting" to log in on the due date, you can set it up in advance.
Their is no law that says a company has to allow you to enter a specific amount on auto-pays, in fact I have never seen a law that says they have to do auto-pays in the first place. They are not forcing you only pay the minimum amount, and there is nothing that says you can not make multiple payments. So unless they start taking complaints from the lazy the FTC is not going to even care about this.
As for Ronny, where in this report did the OP mention ANYTHING about Overdraft fees? So exactly what help are you providing the OP on their issue of credit card payments?

Exactly..

..the last suggestion was perfect. Do not let these banks get over on you. Be SMARTER then them.
I have a checking account/debit card with Chase which is 100% free. I do not overdraft, and I chose not to opt into any type of overdraft protection. I do not write checks against this account an if I do any electronic payments I subtract that amount of the "available" balance that they show on my online statement so i know what I really have..not what they "imply" I have.
So far over a year..not a single fee..yes..this bank is LOSING money with me as a customer. I assume they should write a rip off report about me..but it seems to be their CHOICE to keep me as a customer even though it is costing them more to maintain the account then it is for me to use it.
Work smart, not hard.

That's The Idea!

The idea is to make you pay more or owe them more. I suggest watching the film MAXED OUT since it can explain simply the system that you are now being trapped in. Yes, I had trouble with CHASE and CITICARD and FIA CREDIT SERVICES and Home Depot and Lowe's and..... on and on and on. Yes they all practice sleazy policies and only want to make more money vs. a genuine necessary service. If you NEED a loan, and something goes wrong in your life, then they GOTCHA! Their services have become too expensive to maintain and only those poor enough to need loans (a good credit report) honor their obligations as you are trying to do. CHASE would accept payments by mail or online. My experience was that they would allow me to pay four (4) payments a month, and not a penny more. I never encountered the one payment a month issue with my experience with this particular card company and/or bank. My suggestion is to find a way to get out so that you do not have an outrageous amount of interest to pay. If this issue persists and no one can advise you to your satisfaction, please consider writing a well-documented report and send it to:

Turn off auto pay. Log on to your account once a month and pay the amount you want.
