The intermittent noise got worse as my wife drove to work that day. I had to rent a van to go to Houston for the weekend cause I dont trust the car at that point. Sunday I tested the car again and it was making the noise. Monday the noise got worse. On Tue my wife arranged to ride with colleague and I took off to take the car in to Just Brakes in Plano. I drove with them for a while and no noise. I left the car there and got a call a few hours later saying they drove it and heard the noise and brought it back to the shop and raise it.
When they rev the wheel they say the noise comes from the transmission and not the axle and theres no danger so I should just keep driving it. I had to take the car back. On Wed my wife drove it to work and half way the noise got so bad she refuse to drive it anymore and took it to the closest Honda Dealer. The dealer raised the car and saw one of the 3 bolts holding the axle was half sticking out due to the thread being stripped in that hole on the transmission or where ever the axle connects to. My wife had to rent a car to go to work.
I called Just Brakes in Plano and was told Honda is lying. I called their corporate complaint number and was connected to Bob Marshall. This was around 10am. I told Bob about what happened. At first Bob said there arent any bolts. Then I told him his technician admits there are bolts just that they installed it properly. Then Bob said he has to consult with the technician in Plano and other expert. But Bob said he knows based on his experience that the car is safe, this is from the guy who argues there arent any bolts.
He told me since the car is safe they wont pay for the rental and my wife should keep driving it while they investigate. I told him to please get back to me and he promise hell call me in an hour. Bob called me hours late after 4pm and told me he cant talk to the Plano Technician cause the guy was in a meeting all day. Ive never heard of a car technician in whole day meeting and cant talk to corporate.
He told me I should take the car from Honda and drive it home and hell let me know early the next morning what to do. I ask him to send a guy to Honda to take a look at the problem. He say no. I asked what would be the best possible outcome. He say if its there problem they would fix it at one of their locations. The next day, Thurs, my wife drove the rental car again. I waited till around 11am and lost all trust in Just Brakes at that point and told Honda to fix the car cause I had work, pay for the rental car for my wife and cant wait around anymore.
Bob left a message shortly after and told me they would send the guy to Honda. I got the message at the end of the day and left a message for him saying the car is probably fixed by then and ask for next step. I have not heard back from him since. The repair cost me $735.15. Between that and the van rental to Houston and the 2 days of car rental Im out around $900. Not to mention Honda told me if the retreading of the bolt hole failed the replacement part wouldve cost $6000+. I was worried all night.
