I noticed a charge on our credit card bill from LIVECAREER-Recurring payment "My perfect resume" service. On their wab page, livecareer.com I couldn't find a phone number, only a email or live text for contact. I choose the live text and after a 10 minute wait started a chat with a customer service person. They informed me that my daughter had purchased a $2.95 sample resume from them, and it changes into a monthly recurring subscription automatically of $34.95 a month if not canceled within 14 days. Now who needs a "monthly" resume service? My daughter said she saw nothing indicating this would change to an automatic monthly recurring payment. Any time a service does that, it is a rip off. A legitimate company doesn't lure someone in with a tiny offer, and embedded in the small print sign you up for something like this. I read a few of the other reports on here about this same company, and they all had the same experience. My credit card company gave me full credit on 5 months of the $34.95 charges. They assured me there would be no repercussions from the company. We'll see.

I finally did find an 800 number for LiveCareer on another Internet search, 888-816-0576, and spoke to a live person. They pretty much read word-for-word what the person on the chat said. I imagine they have a lot of practice, as there are a number of complaints on here about them. Basically this is a rip off that the FBI or another federal agency should shut down or at least investigate. I guess in our country it is OK to setup a company like this and suck people dry without any legal consequences. I've had a long talk with our daughter about giving out our credit card to ANY company I do not know about, without contacting me first. Companies like Amazon, Ebay, and other well known businesses are no problem. But any company selling a service, buyer beware. Read everything in mouse size print prior to giving any billing info.

We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing, underneath the description of the subscription in bullet form, as well as in the confirmation email you receive once you subscribe. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
