Santander is really not a good company to deal with concerning auto loans. I had drivefinancial at first then they were bought out by this Santander. I had things set with the other company. then I was laid off from my job, called them to set up payment arrangement. they even made and accept  the payment arrangements then there was a repo truck at my door after I had made the payment and the arrangement. I called and they said they closed and was not able to stop the repo. Just lucky my car wasn't in site or visible. It would have been a goner. i called them recently about my car payment they say they deferred it. but it is $1426.38 when it was $800. They are bad business I have turned them over to the Better Business Bureau too. This is stupid. Some of these banks should have not been given a bailout.  More like put out of business. I just returned back to work because my job does not pay for 2 in a half months during the summer while kids are out. this is when I called and got a deferment and it was still $1000 for the payment. it never took off what they said it would. but its okay they are coming down like all the others. just don't let them take your auto loans, if they do try to get a refinance somewhere. or it too bad.

"there are people that have and do pay there payments on time. this economy is not good and there are good people that have lost their jobs, lost theirs spouse and they are trying to recover. So I have been in this situation twice but I did bounce back. thats why people should keep their comments to them selves. If you don't have any thing good to say, then shut up would fit the situation well. I have ask and worked with these people, so thank you for your information it is very well accepted. But this was not for you to give your input not yet till you walk this walk.

thanks for the information about the better business bureau, it only confirms that we are a selfish and still hurting world. and crooks are every where.

By posting on Ripoff Report (or ANY forum) you can expect to get responses, even some you don't like, but that's the "downside" to your posting here.

Telling people to "shut up" is not only rude and inappropriate, but could likely get you rebuttals you'll like even less.

"So for everything there is a way of escape. you can keep the other information you out putted to yourself."

Not going to happen when you post your comments, you should realize others can have their say too.

"Don't know if you have had a set back yet. if not just wait its coming your way. guarantee it."

Too late to warn me, my IRA retirement account tanked (like most others) and cut off that income to my wife and I for over 2 years.  We managed to cut back and have survived. I'm not sure what your basis is for "guaranteeing it", but sounds like you hope it will happen to those responding here to get even with the responses you don't like.

I DO wish you good luck in the future and sincerely hope you can work your problems out.

NEVER call these scum to make payment arrangements, that just puts their SLIMY plans in action.

Just do what you did and hide the vehicle.

Or trash it.

Education In Need Here!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

Santander is NOT A BANK.  Drive Financial is NOT A BANK!  They are loan companies which finance car purchase for people who are SUBPRIME credit risks.  A person with a subprime credit risk is an individual who GAVE THEMSELVES a reputation of NOT paying their bills on time.  Neither of the above companies received any "bailout" from any government.

The BBB is NOT a part of federal, state, county or local government.  The BBB is NOT part of any judiciary body and has NOTHING to do with any consumer agency connected with ANY District Attorney office.  The BBB has ZERO enforcement powers.  BBB cannot do anything.  Among the experienced business community, the BBB is a WELL KNOWN SCAM.  Anybody can become a BBB "member"...that means ANYBODY.  Anybody can BUY whatever PHONEY ACCREDITATION they want.

When you fail to make a payment on time and have it "deferred", the interest clock keeps on running.  In addition to a late fee plus the ADDITIONAL INTEREST, the original payment becomes higher.  There is NOTHING illegal, immoral or unethical about this...it is covered in the contract which you signed.  Because you are paying a high interest rate due to your subprime status, the additional interest can become sizable.  This is just one more reason why payments need to be on time, every time.

And before it is said, I don't work for either entity.
