I clicked on a link to give me a report of the numbers that are being called from a particular number. The advertised price was $1 for a 7-day membership. The resulting report was pretty basic and did not provide any new information. Throughout the report there were options to upgrade and to get additional data, but based on the categories for the additional data, that is not something I would be interested in.

I went under profile and tried to cancel my account; but, that functionality was missing, it listed "coming soon." So I went into my e-mail and responded to the Welcome e-mail and asked them to cancel my membership. 

To my surprise, the next day I checked my credit card, and found the following charges:

ZOMUG.COM - $1.00

ZOMUG.COM - $5.95

ZOMUG.COM - $19.95

So, I called the number associated with these charges and question them. The representative claimed that because I did not cancel in 24 hours I was being billed for the membership! First, I was not aware that membership was for 24 hrs. Plus, I asked about the e-mail I sent, the representative said he couldn't do anything about it and that he will escalate it and the billing department would get back to me in 24-48 hours.

I logged back into my credit card account to get details on how to dispute this charge and lo and behold, another charge hit for:

ZOMUG.COM - $39.95

I called back, and was told, this was not a hard post, and as previously stated, the billing department would get back to me in 24-48 hours.

The billing department did get back to me and stated that they will not be refunding my money, because I used their service and they incurred costs, and that I should have been aware of what their terms were.

My position, you knew what your costs were before you offered the service for $1. They also claimed that I downloaded a report and paid for an upgrade. All LIES. I have my credit card bill to show that I went elsewhere and used a service that provided me with more information.

Here is their Refund Policy:

In the event that you are unsatisfied with your subscription, or feel the purchase was made errorneously or fraudulently, contact customer support for immediate assistance.

Customer Service is telling me they cannot do anything I need to work with billing. What  RIP OFF? Stay away from these theives. I had to put a hold on by credit card to prevent them from charging me any further!!!

I am not going to go back and forth with you regarding this matter. I did not approve ANY additional charges beyond $1. Yes, there was a button pertaining to PDF, I thought that was to convert the report into PDF, which would make it easier to read. When I saw that I would have to pay $5.95, I did NOT proceed.

The initial report was very basic and all over the site there were prompts to upgrade to get more details. I checked to see what I would get if I upgraded, based on the categories, this was information I had NO interest in -I’ve already done a background check.

In the report there were a couple numbers that indicated possible relationships. I clicked on those to see who the numbers belonged to, but at no time was I told that clicking on those numbers would be an additional charge. Other than that activity I did NOT approve an upgrade.

As for your Welcome e-mail, none was received. And, I checked my SPAM folder.

Following my initial call to your Customer Service, where I stated that I DID notify you to cancel my membership via a response to your Welcome e-mail, I checked the recipient of said e-mail and saw that this request went to the second company that I used to provide me the information you did not. However, my phone call to your Customer Service was within hours of your 24 hour deadline.

How did we get here? I followed a link that promises to give me details on the numbers that are being frequently called or texted. That is all I needed. Thanks for refunding the membership fee, hopefully that will post to my account shortly. Your refund policy states, "In the event that you are unsatisfied with your subscription, or feel the purchase was made erroneously or fraudulently, contact customer support for immediate assistance."

I will write the $25.90 off as a learning experience.

We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with our services. 

SeekVerify is a website that offers an instant background service search for people, phone numbers, e-mails and properties. We provide information on several fields (criminal and police records, financial records, public directories, etc), but we are limited to the data that is provided to us by our 3rd party data providers. They aggregate their data based on digitized public records on the county/state and federal level.  

Our records indicate that you joined on 2nd October 2017 at $1 for a 1-day trial. Upon enrollment to our site, customers are sent a welcome email that includes their membership details.

As clearly mentioned on the terms and conditions upon sign up, the membership is renewed automatically after trial period at $39.95 every 30 days until cancelled. Since you didn’t cancel the membership once the trial (1 day) was over, it automatically converted into monthly subscription. We can see as well that a refund for the $39.95 transaction was issued on 5th October, after you got in touch with our billing department and submitted a refund request.

On 2nd October 2017 you also purchased the Access to PDF Download service at $5.95. When purchasing this additional feature, a pop up is displayed stating the following: “To access PDF Downloader a one-time administrative fee of $5.95 will be charged to the payment method on your account. You will be granted Unlimited PDF Downloads while your account is active”.  

We have records of you using this background service and running a total of five searches on For privacy reasons, we won’t indicate here any details on the searches you made. All of our customers have the ability to lookup their order history on the SeekVerify dashboard under “My Reports” section and to view a specific report again by clicking on the “View Report” icon.

For one of the searches you made, you also requested more detailed information about an individual and accepted to purchase a premium report. Before purchasing a premium report, a pop up is displayed to inform our customers about the price of upgrading to a premium report ($19.95). Each time a customer runs a report on an individual, a phone number, an email or an address, it costs us money to query the data providers, which is why we are unable to refund this transaction.

The membership is now cancelled to avoid future charges and the monthly transaction ($39.95) has been previously refunded.
