I decided to add Verizon long distance to my Verizon landline service on or about January 03, 2016. My average bill had been about $27-$28. The representative with whom I spoke told me I could add long distance for $6 a month plus 5 cents a minute per long distance call. I said my future bills should then be about $35 plus 5 cents a minute on long distance calls. He concurred.
When I got my bill on January 30, 2016 the amount charged was $59.59 and I had made only 22 minutes of long distance calls. What the Verizon rep failed to mention is that Verizon piles on phony surcharges to rip-off their customers.
When I called to complain and demanded that the tape of my conversation with the rep with whom I previously spoke be played, Diana with whom I was speaking claimed she coudn't access that tape. Diana also stated there was no such plan as the one quoted me. She asked if I wished to make a complaint. I said yes and she provided me a phone number which when dialed reached those telemarketing crooks who are always pushing free medic alert systems.
I made a formal complaint to the Federal Communications Comission about Verizon's bate and switch tactics. I would very much appreciate if my fellow Rip-Off reporters would inform me as to what other websites I might post on to inform others of Verizon's tactics.

The Verizon Escalation team has addressed my concerns. They not only removed all long distance charges and associated surcharges from my bill, they adjusted my regular bill so that this month I will pay less than I normally do. Hooray for Verizon.
