During August of 2006, i went to the Walmart SuperCenter in my area, and asked for an oilchange. My fiance' and I went in to McDonalds to get a bite to eat, and walked around the store to take up time. After 45 minutes, we went to the Auto Center to check on the vehicle, and they were still under the vehicle. I went ahead and paid for the services, and walked around the store a bit longer. After about 30 more minutes we went back and the hood was still up on the vehicle, so I asked for the manager. He checked on the car and told me they were finishing up. It was so.

A few days later, I noticed a big oil ring in my drive. I called the store because I knew I did not have any previous leaks, and spoke with a manager. He told me to bring it in. I told him that between my workschedule and school, I would get it in asap. I took the car to a full-service gas station and they filled up my oil. I took it in to the store after work on a Sunday. A guy looked under my car and told me that the oil plug was stripped. They drained the oil and refilled it with high mile oil and an oil treatment because of a knocking noise. He then told me to take it to a repair shop and they would reimburse me. A few days passed and I told them that my car was knocking again, and I didn't have the time to be without a car because of my busy school and work schedule. (This incident happened at the beginning of the semester, and I couldn't miss class.) I asked for the store manager.

He took a recorded statement over what happened and referred me to Walmart Claims. The Claim to repair my car was rejected. The claim's person told me that the store informed them that the car was already repaired. I called the store back and spoke to the manager , and he told me to bring the car in. He sent one of his guys to a part's store to buy a universal plug. Why didn't they do this at first. Now I'm stuck with a knocking motor. ALL OF THIS INFORMATION WAS RECORDED ON MY RECIEPT BY ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES. THE EMPLOYEE NOTED ON MY RECIEPT THAT THE GUYS THAT FIXED MY CAR KEPT IT AS LONG AS THEY DID BECAUSE THEY WERE HIDING THE FACT THAT THEY MESSED UP MY VEHICLE.

Stay away from WalMart TLE! They are NOT mechanics!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 30, 2007

Cynthia,

The "techs" at the "TLE" ARE NOT mechanics. They ARE NOT ASE certified in anything! I wouldn't let them work on my rubber mallet!

I find it hard to understand what kind of moron cannot even put in an oil plug without stripping it, but these rejects do it on a daily basis.

Here's your problem, although inconvenient and costly, that car should not have been driven after you noticed the problem, nor should you have taken it somewhere else to be checked/serviced. You should have called WalMart TLE immediately and spoke with a manager and had THEM order and pay for a tow truck to bring it back in and fix it.

Now, you have given them an out. They can blame everything on the person you took it to after they worked on it.

And, being a little low on oil will never cause a knock in your engine. You would have had to run it REAL low to cause this. And you never mentioned how old the car is or how many miles are on it.

Also, just curious. Do you run a premium synthetic in that engine or the cheap bulk oil. I think the answer to this question will explain the knock.
