I took my vehicle to Walmart and asked for an oil change and asked them to put supertech 15-40 oil in my vehicle and then to do a balance and rotate on my tires.
I picked up my vehicle that night and then Drove 300 miles to see some relatives out of state. I realized that I had this vibration while I was driving so I took my vehicle in to Walmart when I got where I was going. They told me that there was no way that Walmart in Illinois balanced my tires that I had 1 tire that was 4.5 oz out of balance and another tire that had a belt seperation both of which should have been noticed at the Walmart in Illinois.
Three days later I realized that Walmart did not even put the right oil in my vehicle I asked for supertech 15-40 which is a normal oil and they put castrol syntec blend in my vehicle which is a synthetic blend. By the time I realized this I was back in Illinois so I went back to Walmart and talked to the manager of that department. e told me that this would not hurt my vehicle and just to change back to my regular oil on my next oil change. When I got my next oil change they came and told me that I was two quarts low on oil. This was a shock as my vehicle does not leak or use oil. They completed the oil change and I went home.
When I got home I inspected my vehicle and discovered that my front main seal was leaking I then went to the GM website and looked at some info on recomended oils and for my vehicle. The GM website says that GM does not recomend changing to a syntetic oil on a vehicle that has over 80,000 miles on it as it may cause oil leaks and internal damage to the motor. My van had 124,000 miles on it at the time of the oilchange.
I then contacted Walmart to tell them what had occured with my vehicle and there reply was that my vehicle must have already been leaking oil for which my reply was to look up my past oil changes that my vehicle had never came in low on oil. They then told me to go have my vehicle looked at to determine what caused the oil leak and if it was the oil then they would take care of it. I told them that should not be my responsability, that should be thier responsibility. Walmart has refused to correct this problem. I trusted them with my only vehicle and they damaged it and they should have to fix it.

Some Chevy vans do take 15W40 oil

I work as a courier for a Federal Government agency, and I have driven Chevrolet diesel engine vans that take 15W40 oil. However, off and on 15W40 is hard to find at some gas stations-and that particular van used a quart every 800-1000 miles. I usually bought gallon jugs of 15W40 from truck stops so I have top-off oil between changes. I think the van started using oil because I used 10W30 a few times as a top-off, since some of the gas stations where I filled up the van didn't carry 15W40.

15-40 oil

What kind of van was this? 15w-40 supertech oil is not a normal oil. it is a diesel oil. i am sure u do not own a diesel. supertech is also 84 cents a qt. not high quality. d**n man spend a buck and get good oil. this is a very thick oil and will cause alot of oil pressure which will make seals leak. and with 124,000 miles on your van the seals i'm sure were not brand new. and if u called gm and they said that synthetic oil was the cause and not 15w-40 oil then contact a lawyer because it is the opposite that the dealer here said today when i asked a buddy of mine who is an employee there. there is not any wonder wal-mart declined your claim. it is bogus. just like the one that traveled 3025 miles with out any oil. i came to this site and have discovered how truely ignorent people can be. your vehicle takes 5w30 i am sure. so keep putting in thick oil and blaming someone else for your mistakes.
