WalMart is currently offering a product availble on their website only at WalMart.com which is a bundle price for a three piece tv stand and two shelf towers to place on each side of the television stand.

If you go to WalMart.com and go to "Home Furniture" then click on "Living Rooms" and then on "TV Stands" you will find the product I'm referring to, which is advertised as: Sauder Vinegate TV Stand and Storage Towers Value Bundle.

Walmart is stating in the individual product title's and descriptions that the furniture is "antiqued painted finish wood" which is actually fake wood, and not painted at all, it is particleboard covered with laminate paper to appear painted, which I was very disappointed to find out after I made my online purchase.

Since leaving my review on their website, they have added "manufactured wood" to the item decription, however it still states that it's "antiqued painted wood" as well as "antique paint finish" in both the individual title names and descriptions.

This is false advertisement on these products since they are not at all painted, this is not at all wood, or a finished wood, it should be advertised as antiqued laminate particleboard, or antiqued style laminate manufactured wood, since this is telling a consumer what they need to know right in the title and description.

This is important for consumers to know that this is not real painted, or finished wood, and is actually laminate covering on particleboard, or manufactured wood because a consumer is relying on the description of a product that WalMart only offers for sale through their website, and if I and other consumers were aware that this is not real wood, not real painted or finished wood, and is actually particleboard, or manufactured wood with laminate covering, I and other consumers would not have purchased this item. You rely on a tv stand to be dependable, durable and real wood with strength to support your television, which these days is a lot of money for a flat screen, that consumers would hardly trust on fake wood.

By WalMart not being upfront with online consumers with this misleading title and description, they are only gaining sales that they may not have otherwise received had consumers been aware of this not being real wood, and not having a real painted finish since you cannot finish manufactured wood, you have to laminate it. By telling consumers that it's an antiqued paint finished wood they are only left to believe that it's real wood.

I think that WalMart needs to change this item title and description to be more honest about what consumers are purchasing. Laminate covering is not finished wood as they are trying to make this appear and sound in their item title/description.

Antiqued Paint is the color

AUTHOR: Aaron - (U.S.A.)

Antiqued Paint is the color.  Yes the choice of the name might be bad but this is not Wal-Mart's problem.   The cost of furniture tells you what quality to expect.  Sauder's name for the color might be bad but 99.999999% of consumers will understand what it is.

"wood" have to agree..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 29, 2010

..pun intended.

I went to the website and found the Saude Vingate TV stand and towers..clicked it and first find this..

Sauder Vinegate Storage Tower, Antiqued Paint

The Sauder Vinegate Storage Tower in

Antiqued Paint can be used to house books, collectibles and man More

When I clicked "more" I found this...

Short Description
The Sauder Vinegate Storage Tower in Antiqued Paint can be used to house books, collectibles and many other items. It features sturdy wood construction with a beautiful finish and adjustable shelves behind two framed tempered glass doors...

When I scroll down on the page that shows the individual pieces I found this..

Sauder Vinegate TV Stand:
  • Engineered wood with antique paint finish
Pair of Sauder Vinegate Storage Towers:
  • Engineered wood with antiqued paint finish
So..what is it? Sturdy wood? Engineered wood? Particle board? Painted finish?

The website does not say this is particle board with a laminate so if the item is particle board with a laminate it does stand to reason there is deception being used in the ad. Granted it does say "engineered" wood which I guess particle board could be considered...but why then when you click "more" does it say "sturdy wood construction"..and why does it say anywhere in the ad that has a paint finish when it is a laminate?
