I started Nov 13, 2007, out in California in a Dept. making close to 11 an hour I was in the mist of moving so I asked my manager Ruby when I put an two weeks notice in if I am able to transfer, she told me my best bet was to quit and apply out in NC since I wasn't with the company for 6months ( I was shy of a couple of weeks). SO I did not knowing that I would recieve a pay cut and hours at that. Whatever a job is a job, but not in this town. This is a very small town where everyone is basically related to one another, even if they don't like it.
I got hired as a parttime Cashier, who still worked as a much as a fulltime, without the benefits, when hired they told me they would move me to a department, or Customer Service after the store opens up. That never happened, as time went by they started to train me for Customer Service, when I asked about the pay they shoved it to the side. I know of CSM's who are still getting Cashier pay but have the manager's responsibilities. Which to me is ludacris, so the weekends they would send me to Customer Service with Cashier pay and everytime I would bring it up they would ignore me. The CSM will constantly tell me that she would send me to the unemployment line over little questions. So I called Payroll thinking they would answer my infamous question " When you work in other department isn't your pay suppose to change" noone wanted to answer it for me at the store everyone always had a puzzled look on their faces. So they switched me over to someones voicemail, and I left a msg, the next thing I know I hang up the phone and 5 mins later my Store Mgr calls asking me questions like a drill sergeant. I don't care to tell her my reason for calling b/c she is the one to deny anything and everything. She will tell us to do something one way in CUstomer Service and then take her word back on it a week later saying she never said that. She was the one who hired me and told me to my face she would transfer me to a Dept once the store opens.
Just recently they told us that we have a 3min window to walk from the registers to the breakroom then take their word back saying that we are not to stop to help anyone not a customer or employee that our 15min start from the time you log off your register. They don't care about Customer Service! The last day I worked I didn't get one break untill I spoke up an 1hour before I was to clock out, the CSM walked by me several times, even let the cashier behind me go to break and kept it moving. I told the CSM that I am logging off 15mins before I leave and sit in the break room they didn't like me telling them what I was going to do they made me take a 15 min before I wanted to log off, saying she had me written down at 1pm the person she sent didn't come, we were short that day, but they get all their breaks. They pick and choose who they like and send on time to everything.
I never complained about the work I had to do or the comments by these rednecks I got everyday, I kept a smile on my face and kept it moving, but there is so much I will take from this company. They are racially influenced to treat their Rednecks with pride and everyone else like crap!

Break Time

I use to work at Wal-Mart also. In the state of NC they are required to give you a 15 min break every 2 hours. I use to have to clock out on breaks and lunchs. I know how you feel. I quit because of my manager. My whole department quit and got jobs elsewhere. We had a meeting with the store mananger about our issues and she seemed to not care. I feel for anyone working there.

We understand that you are a disgruntled ex-employee of walmart who wants to come on her and complain.
You do realize employers are not required to give you breaks right?

When someone who uses terms such as "Redneck" accuses people of using racial slurs, is sort of like the "Pot calling the Kettle Black".
