Purchased a Durabrand Portable dvd player pvd 722 from walmart with manufacturer warranty, but manufacturer went out of business(before we purchased it). Walmart knew it too. Called and they will not help me. They gave me a number to a company that didn't even manufactured the dvd player. Told me to call number on back of player. Disconnected. Advised them that the manufacturer went out of business and she told me that I must be mistaken and that they have not heard of it. Told them then why is the customer number she gave me is the wrong company and the number listed on my player is disconnected. She couldn't answer me. Player is no good. Will not play ANY dvds. Just says no disc. E-mailed corporate office, no answer yet from them.
BIG RIPOFF!!!!

You do get what you pay for

Hello, you buy cheap you get cheap, I work for a retailer and I advise customers not to buy store brand if they need a dependable product, sometimes you can get a good that works, most of the time not. I know of the dvd player of which you discribed and I would not buy it cause I know it sucks, unless I am buying it for a very cheap gift. But if I did I make sure the person has a record of the purchase.

Since when is it a "rip off" to sell a product manufactured by a company that has gone out of business?
Furthermore, to my knowledge "Durabrand" is hardly a leading manufacturer of consumer electronics in today's marketplace. It sounds like you got exactly what you paid for. Where is the rip off?

dura-loss

Our household purchased a Durabrand toaster for WalMart, which failed soon after purchase. Durabrand is the label that Walmart assigns the cheapestly made product on their shelves. Do the research on any product that you must depend.

Durabrand is Wal-Mart's store brand...

This DVD player is still being sold by Wal-Mart in stores, but not online. PDV 722 is sold under the Durabrand name and is manufactured by Lenoxx Sound who has a website up and running so I take it they are still in business. You can find this very same DVD player on Lenoxx's website where it says it is exclusively sold at Wal-Mart, and I bet they can help you resolve any issues. I have several Durabrand kitchen appliances (like mixer and slow cooker) and apparently they are manufactured by DeLonghi, and let's just say I love them. Some of their other products are made by other well known companies and they put their badging on them.
