American Home Shield ripoff is the best way to describe AHS. We had 2 stopped up toilets. AHS refused to send someone out on a Saturday. Carroll, Iowa

We had 2 stopped up toilets on Saturday Morning. We called American Home Shield at 9AM, they said someone would come to our house and take care of our problem within 2 hours.

We called American Home Shield at 11AM because no one showed up. They said be patient, it was Saturday and we would have to wait.

I explained to them that we had a child in the house and what do they suggest we do if my daughter needs to go to the bathroom. The customer service person said, "I suggest that she uses a bucket."

It is now 3PM and no one has showed up yet. In my frustration, I called a friend and we fixed the problem ourselves. I plan to contact the president of the company and let him know what occurred.

The problems lies in the fact that anyone can become a contractor with American shield,the information below is taken from their website. The requirements are:

You must be a licensed contractor for the trades you service, carry $500,000 in General Liability Insurance and provide proof of Workman's Compensation Insurance or a waiver thereof (if self-employed). In addition, you must have proof of auto insurance in the amount of $100,000 per person and $250,000 per occurrence.
