Americatel They wrongly reported $200.00 dollars in phone bills . I have no account with Americatel and there is no basis for a biiling. the business that doesnt give a dam evil dirt bags fraudulent ripoff business Falls Church Virginia
*UPDATE Employee: Is not Americatel's fault. Americatel is not a cellular phone company but a long diastance carrier.
They have wrongly claimed that we owe over $200.00 to Americatel company. We have no account and never used Americatel. Americatel subsequently turned the wrongfully claimed amount over to a collection group called AFNI. I declined the bill to AFNI but to no avail. Equifax credit has not helped resolve this obvious error and still sites this credit issue on our credit reports.

It is the same case as some other reports. If you receive a bill for $200 for calls that you haven't made, it is because of the owner of that line or number before you. He or she was the person who actually made this calls, but for Americatel or any long distance carrier, the client is always the phone number, so in terms, is like the number never changed owners.
The FCC recently approved a law that makes the local telephone companies to inform the long distance carriers (like Americatel), when a telephone number changes owners, so hopefully this should not happen again.
In your case sir, you should contact Americatel collections department and solve the problem. I have seen Americatel solve this cases very easily when you prove to be a different owner of the line (which is very easy).
www.americatel.com, always check links where term and conditions are, there is always a toll free number.
PS: Americatel is not a cellular phone company but a long diastance carrier.
PS2: We care about our customers, these answers are a proof of it.
