After trying to set up auto pay in December 2013, I was told by a representative that because of my zip code they could not complete auto pay. I never did finish setting it up and in January 2014, I fell a bit behind on my monthly bill and called in to make a payment.I only paid the amount due and told the representative when I got more money I would call in to complete the rest of the bill.

She said absolutely nothing about me being registered for auto pay. Three days later they took the remaining balance of $116.40 out of my bank account. I immediately called and said I did not authorize this payment.

The representative I spoke to said they would cancel the payment and if I was charged any NSF fees from my bank that they would pay. I checked my account the next day and no money was refunded. I called At&t back and after speaking to a different representative they said they do not do instant refunds and we would need to set up a case that would take up to 10 days to be completed.

I decided not to do the case at that point as my bill would've been due by then. Several days later I checked my bank account and I was charged with Four over draft charges for other bills that were pending. I called At&t back and set up a case.

After speaking to numerous representatives, supervisors, and managers and having to explain my story numerous times, they denied the case. This was unaaceptable to me as I felt they stole from my account.

Even though I had the proof(bank statements, text messages, and representative first and last names) they still had the nerve to say this was my fault. They were not willing to write me a check for the amount of the overdrafts, which equalled $144, but were willing to credit my account for the amount.

To me this was pointless as I had to borrow money from family just to bring my bank account current. This has caused a great deal of stress and pain on me and my family. No one seemed to really care about my issue and thought it was more professional to just transfer me to another representative. Awful customer service and non of their employees really know how to do their job. Complete rip off.

Your post illustrates why you should never allow any company to have free access to your checking account.    When you checkout at the grocery store, do you hand over your wallet and hope the cashier extracts the right amount?    Of course not.

As far as your bank is concerned, you're responsible for whatever happens in your account.   Don't let moronic corporate accounting departments ruin your banking reputation.
