What company is the largest telecommunication company in the World? AT&T, the former Bellsouth, the former old AT&T. What company answers the phone by stating "Due to unexpected high volume of calls, ....." No matter what time of day you call, it is always unexpected high volume. While on hold, you will listen to their talk about their "Award winning service...." what a joke! This company is hurting financially, due to their antiquated technology, and in order to to stay #1 and to make money, they are using all kind of tricks on their consumers. Don't get fooled by their scam like I did, and stay away from their Money saving Bundling offers. Their offers are all lies, lies and lies.
Case in point: After losing my job, I called the "AT&T Award Winning Customer Service" to cancel some of the services. The kindly old lady from AT&T asked, "Can I do an analysis of your services to lower your cost"? Of course you may, I replied. "Hmmm, let see, you already have wireless service, internet, and local landline. You know, you can save lots of money by bundling? All you need to do is increase your wireless plan by x minutes, sign up for long distance service, and voila, your bill will drop to$138, including tax and charges, for all these services." Are you sure everything for $138? Yes, said the sweet old lady. Great, sign me up!!! Another sucker taken!
I signed up for the $138 bundlings in February, and every month since then, my bills have been over $300. Every month, I had to spend several hours trying to resolve the high bill with the customer service, and every month the customer service will promise they will take care of the overcharges, etc. They will even give you a confirmation number, and respond by a non-specific email that your service has changed. Do they really take care of these outrageous overcharges? No, no, no. They lied to me, same overcharges will appear the next months, and I have to waste several hours on their Award Winning Customer Service, again.
Finally, in May, I gave up and asked them to cancel my long distance service, and my internet. We would be glad to take care of the problem for you, said the nice gentleman from AT&T. Lied to again, they did not cancel the LD service. Oh, BTW, you were paying $37.95 a month for your Ultra High Speed Internet, with the bundling you saved $10, for a monthly charge of $27.95. If you stayed with us, I will give you the Ultra High Speed internet for $14.95 for one whole year. So I got suckered one more time. In June, my internet bill was $17.95 for the Ultra DSL. And did they cancel the LD service? Nooooo!
I finally gave up, last week I called to speak to a manager, and the AT&T Award Winning Customer will not let me speak to one!!! Finally, I called the headquarter in Dallas, TX, talked to some there, and he said he will try to find a manager, After waiting, and waiting, and waiting, they finally connect me to another Customer Service operator in Jacksonville, FL. Back to square one. And the operator said that AT&T has given me more refund than I deserve! I am but a poor ungrateful ingnoramus, How dare I request for a manager!
Goodbye AT&T.
