I was told AT&T Mobility was offering a sale to people working for the university I am employed by. I went in and they told me that they could give me a $70/base plan, plus $40 per extra line (for my son), remove the activation fee, and offer me $20%.  With tax that should have run approximately $120/month.

When we got to the counter he tries, hard, to sell me on bundling internet, Uverse, etc.  I decline, and he runs some things through the comp and tells me I will be billed $136/month.  I say, "How can it go up that much?" He says, "Remember, I told you $70/month plus $40 per line."  No, he did not say "per line," but I said, "Okay. I can handle $136/month." Then he says, "Well, actually, it will be $150/month. I didn't figure tax in." I am really unhappy at this point, but my son REALLY wants this phone, so I agree.

I sign off on everything, and he prints off the receipts and they say $186/month.  I hit the roof, and he denies telling me it was $70 plus $40 for an extra line. I said, "Fine, how did you go from $136 to 186 or from $150 to $186?"

He stammers. I said, "Cancel it all, right now.  I have 14 days per Texas law. Cancel it now."

He says since it was "never activated" it doesn't have to be canceled, even with my signatures. He had ##### better be telling me the truth.

That's not Bait and Switch but the sales rep is a dirtbag liar. You should go back to the store and insist that they give you documentation that indicates the account was never activated. Good luck.
