AT&T dsl standalone (called dry loop) is not payable online, the company does not have the technology in place to pay your bill online. I have tried for 6 weeks to pay the bill online and nearly 12 hours of phone calls for someone at at&t to finally tell me this. I do not have paper checks and haven't had any for a couple of years, all my bills are paid online. I have AT&T cell phones that are paid for online and do not have a problem paying that bill, now I have a late charge because I can't pay online.

A company as big as AT&T and they can't accept an online payment is absurd, they are the link between my bank and my creditors that I pay using online banking. On the paper bill it states that to pay your bill online go to att.com,but you can't pay for dsl unless you have a landline phone number. The information given on the bill is false and misleading if you only have dsl.

I have been trying for over a year to get my online code mailed to my home with NOTHING ever showing up. I have to call in my payment and be charged extra FOR doing so. They refuse to give me a code over the phone, can't get one to my email AND they WON'T  set up my credit card for automatic pay because they claim they can't do that.

What in the WORLD???? You're an internet and email company! You go through yahoo for pete's sake! I'm moving in 3 weeks and I'm SO glad to be DONE with this company. I'll be using satellite in 3 weeks. NEVER will return to AT&T again even if they pay ME.

I called at&t today to pay my DSL bill. It is the ONLY service I receive from them. No land-line, wireless, nor cable.  I was told it was $5 to do it with the At&T agent, but she would walk me though how to do it online.  I told her the online system kept prompting me for a userID and password.  She assured me that I could pay my bill without signing up. (Although I had already requested a password via US Mail). These are the steps as best I can remember them. 1>Go to the main ATT.com screen 2> Go to the bottom to View/Pay bill 3> Click on Payment Options 4>Click on Make a One-Time Payment.  From there, you can enter your information and pay your AT&T DSL bill ONLINE and without a password mailed, or having any other services or products from them.  I'm in Indiana and I just did it and it worked.  They didnt rip you off for the late fee because you just didn't figure out how to do it. It isnt a simple link to click on, they make you go on a scavenger hunt to get to it. Sad but true.  AT&T has ripped off me and several people I know in the past, and the Customer Service Reps can be as rude and hateful as they come most often, BUT, in THIS case, they didnt rip you off. They probably make it hard in effort to get you to give up and just do it over the phone for the additional $5 fee. I dont know why companies are charging various fees now to pay your bill over the phone.  That's what they get paid to do and should be happy they dont have to pay several mailroom workers to open the payments and deposit them.

You never will figure it out so do not respond to this post, you do not know what is going on. I dropped ATT and still they can't figure out what the bill is,even if I would pay cash. This is way beyond what you know about electronic business dealings so just keep your ill advice to yourself.

AND continue to get your late fees.....

The only RipOff here is the one you are causing yourself. You were charged a late fee not because you couldn't pay your bill(they had several methods), but because you couldn't pay your bill the way you prefer. You are suffering from a case of "My way or the Hi-way". There is no requirement that a company provide a payment method you prefer. If you don't like it then cut off the service. If that causes you to loose your Internet then that is the price you have to pay if you don't like how they do business.

By your own admission they can process Credit Cards. This INCLUDES Debit Cards with the Mastercard/VISA logo. There is no difference between using a Debit Card or your routing number for an ACH transaction. Either way, the money comes directly out of your checking account.

"I had a bill pay thing at the bank but one company just went and took out what they wanted to."
- So where is the RipOff report on that company. If you are saying you are not going to use your Debit Card for this reason? I hope you know that your routing/account number is LESS secure and easier to wipe out your account. Because unlike your debit card that may have a daily limit, an ACH transaction does not.

Good Luck...

Don't need California advise

AUTHOR: Canttellmyname - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 09, 2009

Yes I am getting ripped off. I am being charged a late fee for something that AT&T reps can't figure out. I pay all of my bills online when I say to pay them. I had a bill pay thing at the bank but one company just went and took out what they wanted to. If I don't have control of my money to pay bills then maybe I should just go bankrupt like California.

Pay with your check debit card with Visa or Mastercard symbol.

If your checking account debit card has a Visa or Mastercard picture then you can pay for services or merchandise where they take credit cards. I pay my long distance phone bill and car insurance with my debit card.

Suggestion...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 09, 2009

You want to use your Bank(checking account) to pay your bill on-line. Does your account have a Debit Card? If so just use that card as it is accepted as a "credit card" but comes out of the same checking account. It just uses a different payment network(VISA/MC as compared to ACH).

If not, it may be inconvenient but is far from a RipOff. Just because they don't have the ability to give a 'dryloop' customer the convinience of paying on-line by the method you desire. You still have other methods available to you. One option is to send a paper check, and it is not AT&T's fault if you don't have any. Other options include to use YOUR bank's on-line payment system, or pay the $5 phone payment charge if all else fails.

AUTHOR: Canttellmyname - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 09, 2009

spiral216 read the original post,I stated that a dryloop account is not payable using an online bank payment. You are stating that you pay your dryloop account using a credit card(I know that I can pay with a credit card, but that is putting off paying your debts for a while). You can't pay a dryloop account using a bank account online, but you can pay by phone for a $5 fee. As I stated before I have my 085---- code and yes it will work for a credit card payment, but not for a bank account. YOU ARE NOT READING THE POST CORRECTLY!

Spiral216 is not correct,I have my special code (085---) and it does not work. I have spent more than 11 hours on the phone with ATT and everyone has told me that they are not set up to accept payments for a dryloop account. The special code is for credit cards at this time.
