Today I wrote a message to customer service at BB&T to ask why I had an overdraft fee and to let them know my feelings of stealing from folks that trust them.
Example: Thurs. 10/09/08 my online balance 130.00. Thurs day evening I made 3 transactions with my card total of 21.00. Fri morning 10/10/08 my account says 109.00 and lists Pending transactions. 11:50 AM Fri 10/10/08 I make a deposit of 623.00. Fri nite I check on line, Now avaliable 209.00 with the 3 pending transactions still pending They (as a favor) made 100.oo from my deposit avaliable.
Sat. Morning 11:00 I check online!!!!!!!
Now I have 438.00 as avaliable,
During the night my insurance payment went through 121.30. So, ok, but there is an overdraft fee of 35.00 AND the 3 pending balances from Thurs night are still in the pending folder.
What the heck!!!!!!!
So, they charged for the insurance that by the way is NOT due till the 11th of the month before they posted my check.
I just had a talk with the bank in person the week before for this type of thing, the customer service rep had the deer in the headlight look when I ask how does this type of thing happen.
This week, I purposely did not buy gas, or use any money to avoid this problem, and stay out of the hole. Didn't work...........
That's my story, Now who is the joker that posts the rebuttals on our complaints, a BB&T executive collecting Our money 35.00 bucks at time......

Not A Rip Off - Account Holder Error
AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

Friday deposits are technically not available for spending until Monday. So when your insurance payment went through, it triggered an overdraft. The entire $623 would post and be available to your account on Monday, despite what the online service says. But, there may be worse news than that:
If those 3 pending transactions were still pending over the weekend, chances are you will incur an overdraft for each of those at $35 each because your account was in the negative at some point while the transactions were pending. That's all part of the account agreement you have with the bank. That's a heads up....
You seriously need to stop using your debit card. STOP using it ASAP. It's the primary reason why people lose hundreds and sometimes thousands to the bank in fees. The other thing you MUST stop doing is using the online service to track balances. There is not a single bank that offers such a service that gives the account holder an accurate picture of what is in their account. If your argument is based on your online balance, stop because you don't have a leg to stand on. You need to keep a check register NOW because that's where your balance is.
Best of luck to you.
