On July 2014 I submitted a check from my son for his phone bill and received a receipt for the amount that at that time was paid in full $348.41.
Around mid November I was contacted from Century Link they said that a check which I had paid them in July they couldn`t prove that it was paid, I told them well here it is the middle of November and I couldn`t even remember anything about it aside from I was given a receipt that said he was paid in full in July. They were very rude and said that my receipt was hereby null and void and that I he would pay the amount, I asked if they could tell me something about the check because at the time I did not have the check stub in front of me, they proceeded to tell me the check number and my son`s acct number on the check, by that time I never even thought but I shold have asked well if you never had the check how could you give me that information, but I was so upset that I just hung up and tried to get ahold of my son, so he could possibly check if the check was ever cashed and he found it had never been submitted for payment, and now its after 90 days the check is not any good any longer.
So the phone company screwed up and they want their money, they did not try to work with me and now I face a shut off notice. Yes we do still owe it seems but this could have been avoided if Century Link knew how to run their business and how to treat their customers, this wouldn`t have happened, i did what my son wanted and they didn`t know their job evidently and they still made it out to be my son`s fault.
So for future reference if you pay anything to century link don`t think that receipt is any guarantee because they will call you a liar and that their owe receipt is null and voided, even though its printed from their own systems.
I threatened them with a lawyer because this doesn`t seem right
So much for the customer is always right!!!

Well can not get ahead Now we are being charged astromical fees, for local calls from cell phones, any where from 50 cents to $1.50 each, this company is really just a rip off and over charging entity, I mean what is the use of having a phone if one is going to be charged in such away, I can not help that people, I know have cell phones, or if I am out running errands and need to call home, it is totally ludicrus, this company is ruining our credit and dont even care, I mean in one months time almost $200 in local calls is rediculous,
how does one talk on the phone like that? So now I find I am upto almost $600 with curret bill, since this whole problem started, each and every month, my phone bills are anywhere from $300 to $400, each and every month, yes I am behind, and cant get caught up so this may be the last update because they will be shutting me off I am sure. So the bills use to be around $176 a month it is quite an increase, that I can not handle, if anyone can help I wish you would, they need to be stopped!!!!!

Since I filed the report I have been given 3 notices to shut off my service,
1st one was for about $180, can`t remember this date at the moment, but it was for 1st part of January 2015
2nd one was for about $58 this was due on the 12th of January 2015,
so after I paid this amount a couple days later I received another shut off notice for about $8.00 due on the 14th of this month.
all of these amounts were paid, but with them putting the amount on my son`s account, of course I got behind since it was for almost $348, which they attached to December 2014 bill
If this is not harrassment I don`t know what it is then, how many others get at least 3 shut off notices in the same month?? I wish I ould get away from this company and as soon as I get caught up, whch is not far away I will be done with them, I wish I had a lawyer to put them in their place they think they are unstoppable.
I am just curious so come the 14th of January do I get yet another shut off notice again
Everyon else I know get one bill and if its not paid then a short time later they get a shut off notice, just one not 3 in the same month--this is harrassment I have my proof
