Since the service began I have had problems. First with the service itself and next with the bills. I was billed under a "3 months free" service advertisement on tv which is why I signed up. After I sent two letters and made three phone calls I still was told to pay the incorrect bill. I paid what I should have been charged and now have been turned into collections. I called and turned the service off three times before they stopped billing me four months later.
I called and went through multiple supervisors until dealing with the General Managers Assistant who send me my account print out that was over 50 pages long. She told me to go through and find the mistakes and we could discuss them. I sent her two different excel spreadsheets breaking down the monthly charges and detailing each service laspes and then she wouldn't return my calls. I called again to end up with a government relations specialist who again wanted me to go through my account record rather than read the spreadsheet I sent her.
After two months of her dodging my calls I went to the Better Business Bureau. When the BBB contacted Cox they said they would resolve the issue immediately. And that was six months ago. Now the outstanding balance is on my credit report and the BBB is mad at me. The woman at the BBB called to yell at me last week because she has not solved this dispute in over six months.
I am unable to get any other service because Cox Communications owns the cabel outlets in my apartment complex and will not let any other service provider use their outlets.

A couple of suggestions here...

I certainly understand your frustration with Cox Communications as I myself experienced problems a year ago which (in my case), I ended up having to call their repair service 13 times in 33 days...and no one seemed to know how to resolve the problem of my Internet, cable TV, & phone service continually going out!
I have two suggestions for you.
First, I sent a certified letter to the President of Cox Communications as shown below:
Mr. Patrick J. Esser, President
Cox Communications
1400 Lake Hearn Drive
Atlanta, GA 30319
I explained at length the unresolved problems I was experiencing, providing specific dates of contact with Cox's Technical or Customer Support Staff including what I was told by Cox's representatives; specific dates of repair visits, and what was done during the visit.
Once you have explained the unresolved problems you are having, it is very important that you also be specific as to what resolution you desire to the problem!
In the area I reside (Hampton Roads area of Virginia) there is a local governmental entity which oversees cable TV service providers like Cox. If you have such an agency in your area, you might consider filing a formal certified letter of complaint against Cox with them...again being specific as to what unresolved problems you are experiencing, dates of contact with Cox, what Cox's responses were, etc. Also, as I mentioned previously, be specific as to what you would consider to be an equitable solution to the problems.
I would recommend you send a letter to Cox's President first. In my case, I not only received a letter back from Mr. Esser addressing the issues I presented, but also received follow-up phone contact from his assistant who also made arrangements for me to receive 1 free month of phone, cable TV, & Internet service for all the problems I had experienced with them.
Hope this may be of some help to you.

Not Surprising

I too have been a victim of Cox's scam games. Unfortunatly, they dominate the entire Tempe and surrounding areas, making it impossible to have TV unless your with them. n**i-ism is what it is! What they did to me was durring a transfer of adress, they "for my convenience" piled 3 bills in one (in advance I may add) and said I had to pay within a month. Naturally, I couldnt afford 500 plus bucks for one bill in one shot! So, the bills piled up and up till they finally cut me off for non payment. Now, the next scam is, they "claim" I have a piece of equiptment that I NEVER had! Which in turn raises the bill ontop of the other "fees" to a total of 1500 dollars! They were supposed to come and pick up the equiptment I did actually have, and they never showed up after I waited all day! The excuse when I called them was "im sorry but since your not a customer i cant look into this any further and you'll have to call sales and reschedule a pick up again". I hope to god someone in power will shut these people down once and for all or at least life their little n**i block of other providers. Cause as of now and for the next almost year, I will have no TV (my apartment complex wont allow satillite..that's another story and a whole other "rip off report" for probably a different site.)
