Met with Joe Bonavitacoca (from Empire) at my mother's condo today, which is located in Lansdale PA. Her condo was flood damaged earlier this month. Joe provided me with an estimate to install 1,000 feet of laminate flooring. His estimate was $15,000!! That's ~ $13.63 per sq ft. He couldn't provide me with cost of materials, because, according to him, he doesn't have access to that information. My question - how coud he come up with an estimate without knowing EMPIRE'S cost!! After expressing my shock with this rediculous price, Joe asked how much I'd be willing to pay. Having an idea of what labor and material cost should be, I wasn't confortable proceedig with further discussion. Before he walked out the door, Joe asked me how much the insurance company was paying my mother for floor damages. My thought - why is that relavant to this discussion?
For me, this was a pathetic and insulting experience. Also, a complete waiste of my time.
