I was using the internet when a window appeared on screen along with an audio message.  I was told that malware had been installed on my pc & that if I didn't call them within 5 minutes, my computer would be locked to prevent damage to Microsoft's network. The message also claimed that personal information of my famiy's was being leaked. They got my name, address, phone number, & daughter's name & email address too.

They told me that I had to purchase their protection plan for either 1 year for $199.99, 2 years for $299.99, or 3 years for $399.99.  I chose 1 year.  The first man I talked to was a man named "Paul" with an Indian accent.  I also talked with someone from their billing department, an Indian-sounding man, & with an Indian-sounding woman from the technical department later.

Then they got my debit card info to complete the transaction, told me to plug my pc in for an hour while they "fixed' the problem, and told me to wait for them to call.  They scanned my computer with the free version of CC Cleaner, deleted some things, installed VirusDefuser, & other things I'm sure - I wasn't staring at my screen the whole time.  I had to get to work.

They called me back & told me that my computer was free of the 3,000+ viruses that they CLAIMED it had & left me contact information. I'll post it.

I of course Googled this "company" & virus after being scammed & immediately got a bunch of scam reports.  I should have just turned my computer off when I got the pop-up.
