On October 24,2012 Laminate installers contracted by Empire Today were sent to our home to install laminate flooring in two rooms. After they left, we discovered 2 bottles of prescription medication and several pieces of jewelry missing.
The prescription medication had been closed in a drawer; therefore, they actually searched the bathroom to find it. Additionally, we found blood pressure medication in the bottle emptied of the controlled drug and my husband almost overdosed on his blood pressure medication. Thank goodness he realized the tablets were smaller than normal and investigated further.
The several pieces of jewelry were mostly 18K gold pieces that are one of a kind an irreplaceable. They, too, were hidden from sight so the thief violated private spaces to steal them. Other pieces were less valuable, however, one pair had tremendous sentimental value as they were my wedding earrings. Additionally, my husband's wedding band was taken as well.
The father of the man that took the items called the police to let them know his son was the suspect, which I applaud; however, Empire Today is prohibiting the father from making a statement to the police. I feel Empire Today is guilty not only of the theft of our personal belongings but also guilty of obstructing justice.

I am writing to update previous review of Empire Today. Since the last review Empire Today and I have come to a mutual agreement and I am satisfied with the resolution. I am very impressed with the national customer service office.

First of all were you assured by Empire beforehand that their employees (contractors) have had criminal background checks and drug tests before they are allowed into your home? I doubt it. Were they even legal residents of the US? Time to get the local news organizations involved. Empire wants to play games and the news people love playing them as well. This will get very interesting and could easily become national news if it pans out that Empire is hiding something that endangers customers.

Ms. Clerk I don't understand how asking the father of the suspect not to make a statement to police after he admitted to police that he had first hand knowledge of the theft by his son is considered working toward a resolution of the matter. Furthermore, charges for receiving stolen property have been filed against the suspect. I don't know what more you need in order to resolve this. There are pictures and other evidence proving his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt as the officer has relayed to me.
