1. Contract commenced on or around June, 2006 at the rate of 27%.
2. To date, the balance owing on the contract is approximately $56.00
3. Constant harassment calls are placed. To date, 16 phone calls were received on my cell phone in a 24-hour period of time.
4. Approximately one month ago, I advised the Tustin, CA., location that my Whirpool Duet Sport Front-Loading Washer was in need of repair. It took one week for the Tustin location to pick it up. After two weeks,I was advised that the washer was being repaired and the appliance repair location was awaiting the part for repair.

As of today's date (6.15.09) I have not received my washer. I keep on getting the run around.
5. I have contacted the Rent A Center Customer Service toll free number three times; I was on hold for over one hour.

Let me see if I have this straight...

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 22, 2009

1. You owe money on a washing machine you rented at a 27% interest rate ( I guess you told us the interest rate to win our pity and support- I can't speak for everyone, but all I could think was "jesus, this dumbass actually signed a contract agreeing to pay 27%? Sucks to be him!")

2. You are complaining because you are getting "harrassing" phone calls concerning the money you owe for the washing machine.

3. You are angry that its taking RAC so long to repair the washing machine you don't want to pay for.

What an odd person you are. I wonder why RAC doesn't just cancel your contract and keep the machine. Seriously, you agree to rent an item, get behind on payments, call the people trying to get the money you agreed to pay "harrassers," and then b***h that they won't fix the machine and return it to you promptly? Amazing sense of entitlement there.

#1 UPDATE Employee

Service calls and RAC policy.

AUTHOR: Blindman - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 18, 2009

First, having an item serviced can take anywhere from 30-60 days to be returned. However, RAC policy is to give a comparable loaner as a replacement until the serviced unit is returned. This should be noted in your contract.

Secondly, if the RAC store is calling you 16 times within 24hrs, it's because your account is 7 days or more past due. Since typically the W/D set runs about $28/week for the pair, my assumption is that you are/were 14 days behind and were red flagged. When that happens, their numbers go sky high, heat is put on them from higher up, and they are required to aggressively collect on the account. The solution is simple: call them back. Once you make a payment commitment with them, they quit calling. If you don't they'll start showing up at your work, your references will be called and perhaps even visited. If you still fail to call them, they can file for a replevin that legally you have to pay for (about $700) due to the arbitration agreement. If that can't be done, they can even go as far as to garnish your wages.

Best case solution: Call them, or return the merchandise. They're not a company you want to hide from.
