Rent A Center RAC Came to my house and threatened to beat me up. Houston Texas

On March 18th, at 10:20am in the morning a driver of rentacenter showed up at my home asking for a payment. My payment was due that day. My account was in good standing. I’ve had some late payments in the past but my account was current. The payment amount was $12.78 for a bed frame. I only had 6 payments left on this item. Previously two weeks before this I paid off the bed a bed that went with this bed frame. The driver told me he wasn’t leaving till he got a payment of $12.78 and that I needed to call the store to make a payment. I was dumbfounded that they are making this big of a scene at 10:20am on a Saturday morning for $12.78. I called the store and a guy answered. Him and I got into a little heated discussion. I was asking why someone would be here on the day the payments due when our account was up to date. I did swear on the phone it wasn’t at him it was in general because I was mad. My comments weren’t met towards him. He kept saying he wasn’t the one and he was going to show up at my house because he knows where I stay. He hung up and CAME TO MY HOUSE AND IN FRONT OF MY FATHER AND WIFE STARTED TO YELL AND MAKE A BIG SCENE. THREATENED ME AND MY FAMILY. KEEP IN MIND I HAVE A RING DOORBELL THATS ALWAYS RECORDING ON MY PORCH. THE DRIVER HAD TO HOLD BACK THIS GUY AND ESCORT HIM OFF MY PROPERTY BECAUSE HE WAS GETTING TO HOSTILE.

This man was 5”8, African American, Bald, Wore glasses (Square Shape), bigger build, and wore a grey sweatshirt and drove a grey Honda Civic.

He should never be in the customer service industry if he can’t control himself. I work in customer service everyday and never in my life have I seen someone act like this.

I paid off my bed frame as soon as he left because he was calling me a “broke Ni**** and all kinds of other names. He is bad and needs to be fired. I will be filing more reports if this doesn’t get resolved.

As you can see in my photos the payoff balance was $61.39…. I don’t know who you all have working this store, but this is crazy. I will never use this store again.

I’ve also contacted Corporate about this situation. I also reported this incident to the Better Business Bureau.

In conclusion the bed was already paid off before this incident (March 3rd, 2023) and I just owed $12.78 on the bed frame. Payment due date on the bed frame was March 18th and this incident occurred on March 18th. The bed frame entire pay off balance was $61.39 (Currently is paid off as of March 18th, 2023.). The guy who came to my house who stated “he’s not the one and knows where I live (This statement was made over the phone while he was still at the Rentacenter office)” drove his PERSONAL CAR to my house. The guy knocked on my door with a puffed up chest and had his arms crossed telling my father who answered the door “tell him to come out here. I’m here. Tell him to come out here now.” The driver who initially came to my home to collect payment stated “He’s been told not to leave until payment has been made (on recording by ring doorbell audio and video) and he stood on my property and wouldn’t leave.
