I bought a $500 chair through Wayfair.com. I had to call them to give them a new CC#. While on the phone the CS rep told me that I am entitled to "free" magazines. At first I said no, but she was so sweet I told her I would take a Peoples Magazine if it were free. She explained that I could get all 12 mags free and I said NO and that I really don't read them. A few weeks later I get a call from America Readers telling me my subscription was up for renewal. I told them I didn't have a subscription and that the magazine was supose to be free. This sales guy talked so fast and I had to ask him many times to say it again. This went on for 45min. He said that they were going to deduct $59.90 from my checking account, which they already had all my info through Wayfair.com. I told him NO I do not want to renew and to cancel any further magazines. He promised me that he would not charge my debit card and my subscription was cancelled. 2 days later I noticed that they did charge my card the $59.90. I was furious and called my bank to file fraud charges, but my bank said there was nothing they could do for me. So I figured I just lost that money and that was the end of it, until today I get a call from American Readers telling me that they charged my card again for $35.97. They said that was the discounted price that I agreed to pay for 78 months. I never agreed to such BS. I told them I do not want their service again and to cancel. They told me I could cancel but I would have to pay the remaining balance of over $1000.00. During this call I did have my bank rep on the line listening in. These people are nothing but scam artists taking advantage of innocent people. They also told me that I agreed to receive 12 magazines instead of just the one I was suppose to get free. I told them I did not order 12 and there was no way I was gonna let them steal any more money from my account. So for $97.00 I've gotten 4 People magazines. I had to cancel my debit card immediately, or they would of kept taking that $35.97 out monthly for 78 months.
