Enterprise Rent a Car suggested I purchase insurance for replacement rental car after accident without informing me the insurance company would not cover it West islip New York

On December 20, 2013, I was rear-ended by another driver who the police told me was DWI. i was able to drive the car to a body shop the following morning and a replacement rental was arranged for me to pick up at a nearby enterprise location.

I was told that my credit card was needed to rent the vehicle but that the other driver's insurance company (Liberty Mutual) would pick up the billiong once the claim goes through. This is normal practice. It was suggested that I take out additional insurance on the rental vehicle. Of course I went with their suggestion 12 hours after being involved in an accident ! I don't do this regularly (they do) and should have informed me that this would not be covered in the state of New York by Liberty Mutual.

Liberty Mutual did eventually take over the payments for the rental but when I returned thel car 27 days later, Enterprise informed me that I owed them $391.23 for the insurance on the vehicle because Liberty Mutual does not cover that. They knew this when they sold it to me !!!
