Palisade Collection Agency investigation Fox6 news investigative reporter John Mattes exposes Palisade like others exposed on Rip-off Report that sends out collection notices for alleged nonexistent bills threatening to ruin your credit. This Video link will better educate consumers about these types of Collection Notices.

My credit is being ruined over a bogus $34 bill from AT&T and Palisade Collection. Like all of you, it's for phone service I never had.

According to the FCRA (and the FDCPA), Palisade is BREAKING THE LAW. The act states:

Debt collectors may not:

give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit bureau;

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!

It seems Palisade runs a "skip trace" on these accounts, and then arbitrarily assigns them to the SSN of someone whose name closely matches. In my case, all they have is the first initital and the same last name.

HOWEVER!

I just got off the phone with The Georgia Office of Consumer Affairs, and Mrs. Lucas, the nice lady there, said that if I could get at least 4 other people to contact them in writing (with documentation, which could just be a copy of your creedit report and/or your dispute letter), then the GA OCA would take action against these jerks.
