Last Saturday, my son's 5 month old Samsung Galaxy Note 4 went to a black screen and would not display anything though the phone itself seemed to power on and you could actually still type numbers into the touchscreen to "unlock" the device so that I could backup his data using the Samsung KIES app suggested by their telephone support person.
They also sent me a postage-paid 2 day UPS voucher to return the device to their Plano, TX repair facility. They told me to box it up and wrap it in bubble wrap to send it back. I complied with all of their requests and shipped the unit out on Monday February 23rd.
They also provided me with a repair ticket # and a website where I could follow up with the status of the repair once it reaches the repair facility in Plano.
I followed up with the ticket # and was shocked to discover that the status listed "Liquid damage to the PBA" and "BER" which means "Beyond Economical Repair". The long and short of it means basically, you're screwed! We're voiding your warranty and shipping the device back to you.
I tried calling the repair center Friday February the 27th to discuss their findings and managed to get connected to someone in the Philippines would could barely carry an unintelligible conversation in broken English and when asked to speak to her supervisor, I was put on hold. She came back on and said that her supervisor was unavailable and that she would have to call me back within 24 hours. I still have not received a call back as of this posting on Saturday the 28th.
I did call them back and obviously spoke to someone in the US just now and they stated that the technician's finding are "final" and that I have no recourse. My unusable phone will be returned to me by Tuesday, March 2nd.
After Googling the terms in their ticket description, a clear pattern of redundancy emerged. I found this sort of "canned response" commonplace from their Plano, TX facility, based on all of the other almost verbatim complaints submitted to this site and others by people just like me. I find their stance quite peculiar and ludicrous that such a multi-national and product-diverse company such as Samsung, would shoot themselves in the foot like this to basically abscond from their responsibility to cover their product’s warranty. They would rather basically say "tough s**t....It's your fault. Have a nice day “rather than do the right thing and cover the repair and or replacement of the device. Needless to say that I will never be purchasing another Samsung product ever and will be starting my own website to alert others of this shifty and sad customer service experience.

Try to ignore the childish ramblings of author: Tyg-(). There are 19 pages of complaints about Samsung on this website and if you look closely, nearly every single Smasung mobile complaint has a lengthy, rude, immature rebuttal from the same author: Tyg-(). Its either a Samsung employee or an extremely pathetic individual. Its funny how a "keyboard warrior" like Tyg-() feels brave enough to belittle people when they are shielded and anonymous. Somehow I doubt they would be saying these same things to your face. I had a similar complaint about Samsung, I sent in my phone (which was covered under warranty) in June of 2014 and they sent it back without repairing it. After arguing with Samsung I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Samsung dragged it out and fought every step of the way, but I finally got a check for a full refund about a week ago. Good Luck!

Shifty??

How is Samsung NOT repairing your childs LIQUID damaged phone shifty?? There are 3 spots on EVERY smart phone that indicates water damage. One on the battery, one in the headphone port and one on the main board. Its LITMUS paper. Its doesn't do ANYTHING except indicate that MOISTURE has invaded the phone. Be it water, rain, piss, drool. It doesn't matter WHAT the wet substance was, just that the paper has been activated DUE to moisture. So that being said, why are you NOT going after your child?? Oh that's right..YOUR child doesn't have DEEP POCKETS and a reputation you can try and tarnish. Oh Im sure YOU are pulling that indignation that ALL parents put out there when their OH SO PRECIOUS baby is accused of something. But there is a reality here that YOU are COMPLETLY IGNORING in favor of playing a BETTER victim online. YOU are hopeing that EVERYONE glosses over the fact that YOU gave YOUR CHILD a $800.00 device and YOUR CHILD RUINED IT!!!! Much like when YOU were a child, YOUR CHILD is going to have to learn responsibility with their toys. Samsung DID NOT use the device and therefore DAMAGE said device. That was YOUR CHILD!!!! YOUR CHILD DAMAGED AN $800.00 electronic device and YOU expect that Samsung is going to eat ALL of the costs associtaed with its repair. Mainly because YOU cant afford to replace it. Oh Im also 100% sure YOU TRIED!!! With your carrier as well. But your carrier told YOU that YOU were going to have to use the manufacturers warranty. Which means that YOU don't have insurance on your devices to protect yourself. Unfortunatly a manufacturers warranty ONLY covers the quality of the build and the parts quality. NOT liquid damage that YOUR CHILD CAUSED!!!! Instead of beating that childs a*s and FORCING them to learn responsabililty, YOU try and backdoor a repair CLAIMING a manufacturing defect. Look at the lesson YOU are teaching YOUR CHILD!!!! YOU are basically teaching him that its OK to lie online. Its OK to LIE to get your way. And its OK to besmirch someone else as long as it gets you your way. Grow up and ACT like the adult YOU are supposed to be. From your own words.....rather than do the right thing and cover the repair and or replacement of the device...... Why should THEY do YOUR JOB???? Its NOT their child its YOURS!!!! Maybe YOU should act like an adult before your child becomes one............
