Attention potential Samsung consumers! In 2009, I purchased a 61-inch Samsung HD LED TV. About 1 and a half to 2 years later, my beautiful 61 inch TV had two black spots that appeared on the TV screen. It bothered me but I ignored it because it was insignificant. Within 6 months, those 2 black spots had accumulated to about 3 to 4 thousand. My TV screen looked like it was being attacked by a herd of flees.
I found out later that this was a result of a defected chip installed in not only my LED model but most of their plasma models as well. Because the manufacturer’s warranty only last one year, by the time I had this problem, I was stuck with most of the repair bill of over $300. Samsung paid for the parts but not the labor. Here’s the kicker… the Samsung repair man informed me that even though he replaced the chip that caused my problem,
that’s not a permanent fix and the spots will reappear in another 1 and a half to 2 years depending on how much you watch the TV and Samsung doesn’t even care. Basically here’s the warning, if you purchase a TV from Samsung (LED or Plasma), they come with baggage which is a $300-$600 bill every 1 and a half to 2 years. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Samsung will leave you hanging!

Samsung Run-Around

My experience with Samsung used to be positive, until I encountered my first problem with one of their products. My 2 year old 50" plasma TV started developing vertical lines in the picture. After much haggling, Samsung made an accomodation to pay for parts and labor to repair the problem. The problem is, they apparently never really intended for this to happen.
Four months after reporting the problem, I have spoken with Amanda, Kristin, Charmaine, Keyera, Scandy, Ariel, Brittany, Deidra, Shetavia, Shafiqua, and Lee. I have had 6 different work orders issued. Their service company, USSI, seems to also be a part of the problem. Samsung and USSI blame each other and we keep going around and around, while they each say the other isn't doing something right.
Oh, and one additional little problem. The one time a repairman actually made it out to my house, he not only failed to fix the problem, but the set is now ruined, as in no picture at all. The MO seems to be that Samsung seems to think that if they keep the situation going long enough, that I will accept their unreasonable, unacceptable, insulting offer of a small prorated refund. This has escalated into an actionable situation.
I was a satisfied customer too, until I needed Samsung to stand behind their product. Now I not buy another Samsung product.

A rash statement

While I certainly don't doubt you are having this problem, it's a rash statement to say: "Basically here’s the warning, if you purchase a TV from Samsung (LED or Plasma), they come with baggage which is a $300-$600 bill every 1 and a half to 2 years."
My son and I both have Samsung LED televisions. They are both 4 years old and still look beautiful with nary a black spot. So, Samsung may have problems with some TV's but it's not true that they all have problems. Just sayin'
I do not, nor have I ever worked for Samsung or any other TV company. I'm just a satisfied customer.
