Rent A Center - gerald And Andre treated very unprofessional, lied to for almost 4 weeks, refuse to fix my dryer Alexandria Louisiana

i rented a front end loader washer and dryer, it was delivered to me on a monday evening with no drain hose and the wrong plug for the dryer, i had to rush into town which is about 30 minutes from my home to get these parts, so i could wash clothes that night.

after three days the dryer was not working right, i went into the store on friday to pay my bill, i asked the manager and another employee if they could come look at the dryer, the response i was given was someone will be there tomorrow, which would be saturday to look at it and bring a loaner. saturday came and went with no one showing up or calling.

so i let it go thinking they would come monday. the following friday i went in to make a payment, i told the employees i should not have to pay my bill since no one has been out to fix or exchange dryer. i did pay due to gerald telling me they got buisy and would again be out the next day, which was saturday again. i sat home waiting, no show and no call again. the following tuesday i called and talked to andre telling him to just come pick up the dryer since the way i had been being treated, he said he had to write up a new contract and they would be here.

once again no show no call. so on the next friday i did not go in and pay my note. i called bolton ave store and asked for area manager, i spoke with mike who gave me the customer center number and told me to call it because the area manager would only try to make the store look good.

monday morning i called and spoke with gerald, he stated he thought someone had been out here, i told him i talked to andre and then gerald stated andre is not the one to talk to, but they would be out today, sept. 10 to get their merchandise. by 6 p.m. no show no call so i called and spoke with bobby, i told him their merchandise was on my porch, and that i was going to call my lawyer, he said we will have to reschedule to come out.

i had another company bring me a washer, as everyone knows regulations states that one company does not move another companies merchandise. so i moved this heavy washer and dryer with struggle through my kitchen and living room, then out the front door. during this time the washer poured water all over my floor and carpet, so all this time i have paid for a dryer that did not work right and now soaking wet floor.

i also did call the customer center and was told the distric manager has to receive report and call me in 24 hours, if he does not take care of this matter than i have to call customer center back.

i feel this is no way to treat a customer. this has been a bad experience and will not rent from rent a center again. i have alot of family renting from rent a center and they are thinking of going somewhere else. i want everyone to know what has happened so they do not end up in this situation.

Watched a TV show the other night titled "In Debt We Trust" they had a large segment on rent-a-center and how they have targeted minority and poorer neighorhoods. Where rent-a-center can "rent" a TV, that a person can purchase for a couple hundred dollars, for 7 or $800. They may end up renting that same TV over and over again. It was pretty amazing.

the assistant manager called me today to find out what was going on, he drove 30 miles to my home to pick up the merchandise and appoligize in person. people like him make all the difference in the world. when the manager and the customer care center made no effort, andre, the asst. mgr. made the difference and made an effort to make a bad situation better. i still feel that the manager was very unprofessional in handling this situation and does not have the right to run a business and treat customers in this way. thanks to andre.
