I got a system from rent a center for some weeks really my gf got it in her name, I needed to take the item back before the tried to charge me again for another week. Christmas was a few days away, I went to the mall and someone broke into my car and stole rent a center item and stole my stuff also. So i called the police and my gf called rent a center, they demanded a police report, it took a while to get the report but meanwhile they was harressing me and my gf, they didnt believe that we had a polce report. So we brought the police report to them, he said he will have to give it to his manager and they will get back to me, if u ask me everyone a manager there. 2 weeks later we receive a letter in the mail basically threatning to excersice they legal rights? Im like what legal rights im glad my gf signed the insurance called Liability damage waiver, I talk to the manager about the insurance and he gave me lies to why the insurance want apply to my gf and me. I lost alot in the break in especially my wallet and id and social security card everything. Im not going to pay for something i cant use or dont have and have insurance on it thats not fair or ethical. I feel like they trying to make me pay and then use then insurance and replace it, sounds like a scam or something similiar. I dont have time or money for court cost, what should i do?

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Liability Waiver

You mentioned the items were stolen and you that you paid for the liability damage waiver. The wavier doesnt payoff the item and the store is charged the remaining value of the item. The reason they need a copy of the police report is to show the property was not stolen due to neglect and that the items were actually stolen. The RD and DM will push the manger to collect as much money as they can, because they dont want to charge off the item as a loss, which is what they will have to do under the waiver. If the depreciated value of the items is $300, then the store losses $300 off their P&L. Many people report their items as stolen and their is no forced entry and no signs to show items were stolen. I would have a hard time believing your items were stolen from your car in the mall parking lot, because you said they stole your wallet, id, social security card and everything. My question would be" Who goes into the mall and leaves their wallet in the car? Really?? My guess is you are someone that couldnt or wouldnt pay their bill and decided to claim items were stolen.
