Rent A Center ripoff Los Angeles California

Let me see. Hmmmmmmmm. I still have my first tv I bought in college back in 1983. When was the last time your tv set broke? For the price you pay at RAC you could have bought 12 tvs, paid for delivery and set up ! Apparently you have not done the math for these type of places. Believe it or not, there are people in this world that does save up and pay cash for our purchases. Alot of us live debt free, not off credit cards, which means we actually have money to buy things. RAC has certainly sold you a bill of goods if you think charging people outrageous prices and fees for purchases all to save set up and delivery fees? At least you gave me a good laugh. I thought you might just be SERIOUS for a moment! Ha!

Wow, I don't know what state you worked in. I am in New England and the market I work in is completly differant. We punch out for lunch you are asked to leave the store to enjoy your 30 min meal break. My day off, is exactly that a day off my phone never rings. What you neglected to say is with any item that you "rent" through the company all service issues are covered for as long as you rent, there is free delivery as well as setup of the items on rent. Is it a rip off maybe, but as an employee and yes this may see a little "pro rent-a-center" but the money you can spend at walmart on a tv that has 30 different companied building there tv's to a company like Sony at rentacenter that is made by sony... it's all one company. If the price is sooooo low at wal mart go spend the 1500 and tell them to deliver it, set it up, and if it breaks replace it see what they say then....

There is a reason the slogan is, "worry free" and "we make it easy to make it your own" for as small as 50 bucks a week, you can have a 4000 dollar tv or even 7-10 grand worth of stuff. All the company ask's pay on time.

As far as the alegations you put forth, you may wanna contact the state whitch you live, because you store may have violated some state laws, but as the company it self, those are not common practices........

Doesn't matter what the rent is for; appartment, auto, tv, stereo, etc.

When the rent is not paid by the agreed apon date, you may be sued in either civil or small claims court.

If the suit is successful, the statue of limitations (in New York) for a money judgement is 20 years.

Skipping out with the property without paying for it is theft and would be prosecuted by a district attorney's office.

I am currently a Lead Assisstant Manager at Rentacenter. I've worked there for over two years, and I can honestly tell you that 48 hours is the MINIMUM you will work every week. We generally run pretty good, so we rarely have to work our off day. But, there are times when the only off day we get is Sunday. Whoever says they work only 40 hours per week is either lying or calling in once a week.

I applied for a job at rac and ofcourse I was not really interested and one of the requirements is that you work 8 hours overtime. And the hours are long everyday. I for one will never rent or buy from them.

And fyi, if you do not pay them or skip out on them they will report you to a system called Teletrack. Most companies such as this and payday loan companies will use it. and it is not reported to your credit report. I worked at such a company above and they are forbidden to report it. And as far as suing you, there is a long list of much do's to get the judgment. So I say, ignore them and go on with your life.

Don't be concerned about my life goals, I am doing good. I've been working in high end retail furniture stores and just started working in this rent to own retail thing. So you know what when your making lots of money on furniture commisions sales lets hear you brag idiot.

The reason I work at Rent a Center is that they pay much better than they useto what I could make in 50 hours they uped the pay so we work 40 hours and still make the same amount of money. The reason they did that was to get BETTER people to work there.

...and as for my customers I do tell them that there is a cash price and the total price that the price double and that they shouldnt worry becuase if they ever want to save some money they can pay it off withen the 90days or pay 55% of the remaining balance. If she felt bad about selling to her customers perhaps she wasnt being honest. I tell every single person that and you know what...only about %2 of people say thats to much and walk out.

Also did I ever say or acted like I knew the person above? I don't think so becuase I don't. I work at Rent a Center in probably another state.

I was fired for getting hurt at RAC. I know for a fact that every RAC employee is scheduled to work 48-50 hours per week plus any other overtime that the company feels is "necessary". I was a customer of theirs before working there. What I learned about the business was shocking to me. We were told to look in windows, run people at their place of employment, probe their friends and family and underage children for information. It is insane. It is not just my store that operates this way either. If you want to work for a company that invades peoples privacy, and prays on people with bad credit or low income, this is the place for you. No, RAC does not force you to rent from them, but they surely don't help you to decide if you can afford it either. We were constantly told to harass our customers and up sell them. Its all about the BOR right. I also used to get into trouble for giving a customer a "good deal" but I guess its just because I have a conscience.

You probably got introuble because there are company policies that you need to follow. The main reason people go there is because thier credit is shot and nobody will rent to them. You can get items cheaper at other places but the customers there probably don't have the financal disapline to either save up, or fix thier credit to finance it. Its a RENT TO OWN COMPANY, not a retail store.

As far as my job, I love it there and here is why.

-I only work fourty hours a week.

-I get paid alote more than my friends for easy work.

-As for having Saturday off why would you that is the busy day that everyone goes shopping, one or two people can not run the whole store by them self.

-If you get injured at work, you know what there is workers comp.

-You don't get written up for being late unless you are consantly late. Which any other employment does and should.

-If you are clocked out, rent a center can not make you do anything.

-As for as a 15 min break its not as if your at a job that is phyicaly exchasting.

-And as for picking up items that are to heavy ask for help or get a male employee to do it, and guess what I AM A FEMALE WORKER AS WELL.

As for you "leaving" rent a center, I doubt it I am sure you were fired.

I can see why you no longer are employed with RAC. You sound like you are about as smart as a bag of rocks. Check your facts and have some self respect. Rent A Center may not be your employer of choice, but you sound very ignorant by venting on the internet with your 3rd grade education. I am surprised you were hired in the first place, but I guess all stores get desperate for employees at one time or another...
